Kiley glanced at Pam, wondering if she knew that's exactly how Pam sounded when she was being tactless. Not that Kiley was one for tact, but at least she didn't hide it with giggles and smiles. But whatever, this wasn't the time to point that out. Someone was here and it wouldn't be cool to put off finding them to antagonize Pam.
"They might not be able to speak if they're hurt, or passed out," Kiley said to both of them. What the fuck were these boxes out here for anyway? For TPTB to leave them packages? For people to hide in when the night monsters came out? They could have made them bigger, and more comfortable at least. Kiley walked over to open the lid on one box, but it was empty. She was half-expecting some kind of ridiculous jump scare. An animal, or a corpse or something, like the one Lennon and the others had found. Kiley dropped the lid and walked to the next one. "I guess we should just search all of them--" She broke off as she lifted the lid to the box. The body inside was definitely not Vanessa, and based on the fact that the woman was stirring and grimacing, she was most definitely not dead.
"Never mind," Kiley called over to Chase and Pam. "I found her."
Lila was not thrilled with the three who had come out to find her, but she supposed it could have been worse. The box was too small, especially with her bag, and while she had only been inside of it for a few minutes, she didn't really have to fake the discomfort. She groaned and squinted up at the sight of Kiley. If she had to invoke how she felt waking up on the floor of the barn, she could do that. She still hadn't had any coffee, and her muscles were still sore, so it wasn't much of a stretch. "What...where am I now?" she asked hoarsely.
