Disassociation was something Lila was pretty good at. And it would happen with all of this eventually. She would box up everything Felix was handing her and ignore it, at least emotionally. Or she would use it, which seemed more likely if the opportunity presented itself. She hadn’t had any real friends in this place before they put her on ice, so their pain didn’t affect her, nor did the fact that so many were gone now.
Simms’s death probably affected her as much as anything could, because to her, she had just spoken to him yesterday and she had spent the most time with him. But it was what it was and if he had done what Felix claimed he’d done, it was inevitable. There were plenty of people in Zenith chomping at the bit to kill him and Simms had continually poured fuel on that fire. But his son was there now, apparently, and wasn’t that intriguing?
Lila considered it and then took a deep breath before gesturing at Felix. “No, keep going. I want to know everything. Who is left of the cool kids?”
