Edwin took a deep breath, then held it in as he tried to tell himself that the fears that the others had hadn't crossed his mind, but of course they had. Still, someone had to try to believe that they weren't walking into something horrifying, right? Even though at this point it seemed kind of dumb to believe that they would just find someone pinned, or stuck in a tree. That didn't explain how someone had gotten out.
He let the breath out slow. "If it's that, then we should check it out just to see if maybe They fucked up and gave us a way to get out of here," he suggested, trying not to sound as unnerved as he felt. "Does anyone want this walking stick? It'll probably work as a weapon in a pinch, too, if anyone's... If anyone is worried."
