"Did you really just pull out an Indian in the Cupboard reference?" Edwin snorted, looking from Felix to Jack, wondering if he would have gotten it had Jack not made the connection out loud. He couldn't help but snicker, even as he moved again, trying to look for anything not directly in the spot where things had been dropped. "I think that maybe we should keep going and worry about finding footprints or something on the way back?" he said despite himself. "Get Vanessa out of... I don't know, whatever rocks she's wedged herself in that's got them stuck where they are? Then do another check as we pass by."
Edwin hadn't gone too far, but had passed enough trees to spot something that wasn't immediately visible from where the group had found the previous group's stuff. At about knee height, jagged lines had been carved into one of the trees, past the bark and deep into the wood. Looking ahead to the direction the party was moving, it became clear that it was not the only tree that had what could best be described as scratch marks.
"Never mind," Edwin called out. "I think I found something." He frowned, hoping that maybe he didn't. All the same, his next move was to grab his phone and take a quick picture to shoot over to Oliver. Or maybe just show him when they all got back.
