TIME UPDATE
Day 41.
Weather: No fog today! Just a comfortable, breezy day in the low 70s.
Events: Wow, yesterday was eventful! GPS going crazy, monsters in the woods, multiple people missing! Is any of that going to be explained?
Well, of course not. There are, however, some updates for today. First, the two markers that were on the GPS, lingering by the northern border, are still there, but something's different. One is in the same exact spot it has been for hours. The other has, somehow, moved past the border. Not far, but... Someone's out.
Before anyone can get out there, though, whoever made it outside of the map can be seen on the GPS coming back into the border before their dot disappears completely. Weird.
With the GPS functioning, ExB should hypothetically be able to see Jerome and Vanessa today, right? Well, no. They're still obscured, just like they were yesterday. The parts that they can see of the person who's out there aren't a shoulder or a foot, but something that should be on the inside. All they can see is blood. And it's being tracked in the direction of the river.
Vanessa and Jerome weren't the only ones who went missing yesterday. What happened to Ivy and Chase?
Well, Ivy and Chase both wake up in separate stalls in the barn. Nobody saw how they got there, even if they didn't sleep at all, but they were still placed there at some point before dawn. Both will wake up around 6am with a start, and neither of them feel great. For the first few minutes they're awake, there's a ringing in their ears, and their limbs feel heavy and stiff. Once they get themselves moving, they still feel a little bit like they've been in a car accident for the rest of the day. No real injuries, just bodily sore.
They haven't returned unmarked, though. And the marks are strange. It's not a wound. It's just a bright, fire engine red line, about eight inches long, and an inch wide. No matter how much scrubbing they do, it doesn't come off. Ivy's is down her left arm. Chase's is mostly covered by his hair, but it starts at his right eyebrow and goes across the side of his head, even covering the top of his ear.
Everything that they couldn't hang onto while in the woods, including Scotty, is right where they had dropped it the night before. While they remember everything up to being grabbed, their memory of the night stops when they were being carried away.
The creatures from last night are, oddly, not the only new life in Zenith today, though people are sure to be more excited about this second group of creatures. Anyone near the river is going to find a new population of fish! Salmon, trout, and bass are all seen throughout the rivers and lakes, and they seem to be thriving, despite no sign of anything these guys might feed on.
Finally, Experiment B all receive a message about an hour before sunset. It goes like this:
We have read your concerns over being unable to move about under the cover of night, and we agree that we have complicated things for your experiment. We wish to remedy this. In the same space that you have found your bonus items that you had requested from the main house, we have gifted each of you something that will allow you to move around more easily. While being worn, we can assure you that what's in the forest will not target you, though we do not recommend attempting any sort of interaction.
What they find is just a black hooded jacket and pants in warm, but quiet material. Before they get the idea that all they need to do is wear black to get around outside, they might want to take note that when the outfit is worn, the wearer's GPS marker is relocated to their bed, where it remains until the outfit is removed. ExB will now have cover not just from the creatures, but from anyone absently watching their GPS.
