Chase was already nodding at the suggestion of going back, already taking a step back towards the last marker he'd put down. He could feel himself faintly shaking now, and he inhaled and exhaled deeply in an effort to stamp it down. It partially worked, his hands steadying even as his heart began to thrum in his ears.
"Don't see it," he replied after a heavy swallow. "I'll stay in the back. Just in case..." He figured he didn't have to explain more than that, considering he was the one holding the incendiary devices. The last thing anyone needed was to get caught up in whatever the thing in his hand was going to do, if anything. There was always the option of throwing the torch too, but he didn't like the idea of fumbling around in the dark without a light immediately in hand if they ran off without him.
