Ivy hadn't been suggesting they split up, but had the circumstances been different, and had it been daylight, it could have been an option. Even so, she knew Scotty was more worried about her being female than he was her not having a weapon, and she shot him a look, parting her lips to respond when that sound interrupted her thoughts and completely dismissed any retort she might have had.
It was loud. Unnerving. Definitely not a scream. She clutched both the stick and the phone tightly, thinking she could swing one and throw the other, if she had to. She could message Oliver, but what good would that do at this point? No one was going to get to them before whatever was out there did.
Ivy agreed with Chase. It wasn't Vanessa, or Jerome. She tried to scan the area with her flashlight, though the torch certainly gave them some adequate light. "What do we do? Go back? Keep going but no more yelling?" Ivy checked her phone quickly, thankful that her hands weren't trembling too bad. "The markers haven't moved."
