Who: Ivy & Jerome Where: The woods (O30/31) When: around noon
At least the weather was somewhat nicer today. The day had started rather rainy, reaffirming Jerome in his incentive to rather start some housekeeping than going out to do that stupid search again. Not that it had led to anything useful the day before, at least not for Pam and him, and he couldn't deny that it filled him with a twinge of glee that apparently, They hadn't achieved what They had wanted to achieve and thus, letting people search again instead of doing something new. Since his arrival, every day had brought something new, never something good, and apparently, nobody had found the means to expand the space yet, so They probably had to change Their schedule or something. Which was a nice thought for once.
Personally, he still didn't really care for anything that might be hidden out there, solely because They wanted them to find it, and he still emotionally fought being Their guinea pig. Not even the news of seeds could excite him much, given that this only was a painful reminder at how long this stay was supposed to last, dragging down the ridiculous hope of being released in a timely manner even more, shoving the facts of being stuck here for longer back into his consciousness where he didn't want them to be.
He had succumbed to drinking three quarters of his only fucking wine bottle yesterday evening after Pam had moved out and after he had been done helping and hanging out with her, having felt lonely and homesick again without anything to focus on, regretting his drinking craze today, same old story. Being alone with his thoughts was never a good thing recently, but it was bearable when he had something to do. Like cleaning the lodge, cooking food, stuff he had done all morning until noon when exhaustion and hunger had forced him to stop and take a break.
And now he was sitting in a chair he had brought from the front porch to the outside, placing it near the entrance, but not in a way that it would block the path, because the rain had stopped, the temperatures weren't as bad today, and after working through the whole morning inside the lodge, eating with a breeze of fresh air was a nice and welcoming chance, and with proper clothing, it wasn't too cold either. Holding a plate with self-made pasta and not too great, but also not too bad tomatoe sauce, his gaze constantly switched between his food and the woods, while his thoughts lingered in the memories of the day before as well as the rest of the current day. There just wasn't as much to do around here than there had been at the mansion, and without the ability to spend his time with baking, and the urgent need to just do something productive to keep being focused away from homesickness, strolling through the woods again didn't seem like the worst idea, very much to his own surprise.
He was distracted as he could hear the footsteps of a person approaching the entrance, and upon turning his head, identifying her as Ivy, someone he hadn't crossed paths with all that often before. She did seem like a reserved, but nice person, and he greeted her with a smile and a friendly nod. "Hi Ivy."
