Kate laughed a little when Felix got hit with the mud, though her smile was sympathetic as she commented, "Man down." She could feel increased resistance against her hold as Jack cleared debris, which she thought was a good sign, and she hoped it would be cleared quickly without too much poking needed.
"On three," she said, when he gave the all-clear to let go. Counting it down, she let go on three and stepped back, hoping Felix also got his fingers out of the way in time. She needn't have worried, however - the wheel was slow to turn once they'd let it go. Kate wasn't sure why she'd been imagining it would suddenly whip into overdrive - the water wasn't moving THAT fast, and the wheel looked heavy. But it did start turning, which was the important thing. She saw a few other bits of debris come loose as it gradually picked up speed, and after a minute or two, it looked like it was going at its top speed.
"Hey, it works," she said with a smile at Jack and another for Felix. "You think there's a--" But before she could finish the sentence, she could see lights flickering to life through the windows.
