Who: Felix and Kate
When: Around 8:45am
Where: The river
What: Hiking to the horror barn
Waking up in the middle of a thick forest had not been the thing Kate had been expecting when she thought of 'relocation', let alone waking up without the list of things she'd asked to bring with her. After a moment to get her bearings, though, that was probably a good thing. She took stock of her things - a backpack with a bottle of water, a granola bar, and her inhaler, and on her, her phone. She was surprised and yet not that it had a signal, and Oliver's terse message combined with the dots on the GPS app on her phone meant that she was at least not alone in this situation.
Her first move was to get up and strip off most of the extra layers she'd worn to bed the night before; as much as she'd wanted to bring the pretty things she'd slowly made or accumulated during her time at the mansion, she'd instead stuck to items that were durable and functional - jeans, long underwear, flannel shirts, tank tops, and a sturdy pair of boots with extra socks. She took her time, packing the clothes in as small as she could get everything. It strained the zipper a little, but she managed to fit in everything. Securing the backpack on her shoulders, she oriented herself using the very obvious red arrow and set off.
It had been a while since she'd been in the woods, but though she was pretty thoroughly a city girl, she'd spent time in the woods growing up and while she wasn't thrilled to be trekking through heavy woods in a rainstorm, she was at least relatively confident she'd be able to get to wherever the map was leading her.
It became clearer as she walked that she was on something of an intersecting course with a neighboring dot on the map, so she adjusted course slightly - it would be safer to travel with someone else, in case of an accident. It didn't take much longer to reach the dot that had paused at the river. Kate looked around as she reached the riverbank, spotting her neighbor easily enough.
"Felix!" she called out with a relieved smile. She didn't know him as well as some of the others, but he was a welcome familiar face. "It's good to see you. Did you make it out here okay so far?"
