This wasn't the first animal that Pam had shared space with here at Zenith. She still missed Hathaway, and maybe still held a bit of a grudge towards Marco for killing him, even if, at this point, she knew that she couldn't entirely blame him. Then there was Mr. Pecky, who she still enjoyed taking care of, but wouldn't dare bring up to the house. She didn't want to be responsible for people's irritation with the loud creature. Then there were Neptune and Minion, which were actual pets, but not hers. And hell, Neptune wasn't even here anymore.
But now, there was... bird. She hadn't come up with a name for the little thing yet, but she already loved it, having cried happy tears through most of the morning. She knew that she probably should have helped search a little more for Edwin and Vanessa, but they were in the house, so if she took some time to get acquainted with her bird friend, that was fine, right? So she's let the little lady bounce around on her bed, and fly around the room a little, and they had a it of time to bond, and it was lovely.
She was expecting Jerome to come by at some point, but they hadn't agreed on a time, so when there was a knock at her door, she let out a surprised squeak and quickly wrangled the little girl and put her in her cage, so she wouldn't try to fly out of the room. They weren't at that level of comfort with each other that she could expect the bird to come back, nor did she expect anyone to be careful about the new pet. Maybe eventually she would be able to carry her around on her shoulder or something. That would be neat.
She took another quick moment to check her face in the mirror before Pam opened the door, and sure enough, found Jerome. She was very quickly bouncing on her toes, and she threw her hands up into the air before wrapping them around his shoulders, pulling him into a tight hug. "Hi! Hi hi hi! Come meet my bird! Oh my gosh, thank you so much! Come in, come meet my bird!"
