"Better to be safe than sorry," Chase replied with a shrug, though his tone relayed that he agreed with that assessment. "I mean, They might do a repeat just to mess with us. Wouldn't put it past them. And I'd feel really bad if we missed someone on accident."
Chase missed being able to just cut across the clear lawn between the headstones to get to the mausoleums, though the paths really weren't that much more of a distance to trek. He came up to the first stone structure, releasing Kiley's hand to press his back against the slab at the door until it budged, wondering if maybe they shouldn't just leave them open to make the searches easier from now on. Though, if people were trapped in a hole inside that was just one less wall of protection against the elements.
"Hello," he called loudly, his hand reaching for the flashlight in his pocket, aiming it around as he listened for a response. Nothing. Turning to Kiley he offered the flashlight. "Aim it in? I can check them," he said, gesturing his head to the slabs, making sure Kiley knew that they could totally do this without her needing to go in if she wanted.
