"It wasn't an official welcoming party," Audrey clarified. "Just some people who'd been here the longest that took it upon themselves to check for new arrivals and explain as best as they could what was happening. It wasn't a super in-depth explanation, mostly designed to just hit the most obvious questions. And then there was a man, Chase, who drew a map of the town that they posted whenever we saw a new user post to the network - most of the new people had to make a post to unlock their doors on their first day like we did today." She looked over at Felix. "You were posting that around this morning, weren't you? Probably a good idea to talk about the nametags, yeah."
She paused for a second to grab a granola bar from the pantry; then returned to the spot where she'd been casually leaning against the counter. "People did the best they could, given the circumstances," she said, wondering if it was too soon to begin sowing seeds of doubt against the old group. "There were some strong personalities and it was a high-stress environment." She let a look of discomfort cross her features before resettling. "I'd focus more on how everyone who's here now is going to get along, to be honest. We had house meetings in the old group, to varying degrees of efficacy, and there was a sort of house-elected 'security council'--" She bracketed the words with air quotes. "--but again, you could argue whether or not they were actually effective. When it comes down to it, the only ones with any real authority here are the ones running the place."
