"There's a guy in here who has a pretty decent map of the place," Audrey said. "He tends to respond to everyone's first message with it, so whenever you get back to your computer you can look it up. The area is sizeable - like Edwin said, it's a full town down the road from here, not just this house. Abandoned stores, run down homes, municipal buildings, everything. Either actually abandoned or just staged to look that way, and wherever we are, it's the middle of fucking nowhere. Zero light pollution at night to indicate even a small town nearby."
She was ignoring Jerome having some sort of Lifetime movie moment in the corner. He'd been shut down; if he wanted to go catatonic in a corner, at least he wasn't causing problems.
"The implant in our necks are how they shock us when we cross boundaries or refuse to comply with instructions," she went on. "As for how they knock us all out at night, I haven't figured it out yet. Either that's another function of the implant, or maybe they gas the house. I've never seen or smelled anything, but if they can manage all this I'm sure odorless knockout isn't a far stretch. Unfortunately, they also like to play with time while we're out. What's the last date you remember?"
