God, she hoped Felix was watching. This had devolved into such a beautiful shit show that she was honestly tempted to just sit back and watch the men around her collectively lose their goddamn minds. She certainly wasn't phased at the angry German yelling, and her utter lack of fucks were reflected in the calm look on her face; her only expression was a raised eyebrow while she waited out his tirade.
"If you're finished?" she asked when he stopped shouting. The question was rhetorical, and she didn't wait for a response before continuing. "I expect you to calm down and behave like an adult, and if you can't be here without escalating the situation further, then leave. At the moment you are being exceptionally unhelpful and have so far managed only to actively antagonize at least two people here, which is the opposite of what I'm trying to accomplish." If she thought for a second he was doing it on purpose, he'd make an excellent addition to Experiment B - but she had a feeling he was just struggling with impulse control and maybe some unresolved emotional issues. "I think I've proven myself capable of handling him, so you're certainly not needed for protection."
"Edwin's got the long and short of it," she said, nodding towards the currently only other rational adult in the room as she proceeded to ignore Jerome and address Joe. "We've tried to find the people running the place. There's an invisible border around the town - cross it, or anywhere else they don't want you to go, and it shocks you. It doesn't let up until you're back where you're supposed to be, and if you don't comply, it ramps up the charge until you pass out. So far it's been a strange mix of physical tests like obstacle courses and psychological tests. You'll have the easiest time if you comply with what they ask - it's been implied that while we are valuable test subjects, we are not entirely irreplaceable. We have not yet found any universal commonalities between us - some people are from the same city, but others are from different countries. So far, I think the only thing we all have in common is that we all speak English. We don't stop looking for ways out, but so far haven't found anything useful."
