Lucy could feel the panic in her chest at all the angry noises. She knew that they weren’t directed at her, well, she knew Jerome and Oliver’s and Pam’s weren’t. She couldn’t help but just stare at Joe through his explanation. She hadn’t intended to, but when Pam’s arms came around her, she clung to the other woman. It was stabilizing at least, in a way that Lucy desperately needed in that moment.
“The doors always unlock that way!” Lucy countered, but her voice wasn’t terribly loud, and she wasn’t even sure that Joe would hear it. “I don’t have any more knowledge than the rest of them, I mean, I probably even have less knowledge than they do!”
Honestly, Lucy in that moment, didn’t even care what the man’s name was. She didn’t care what he had to say. He was terrifying in ways that she hadn’t yet experienced outside of this house. “I didn’t do anything wrong.”
