Joe didn’t like the idea of anyone having a crossbow, except maybe himself, but definitely not the Crocodile Dundee impersonator. He tried to move against her hold, but with his elbow and his shoulders locked the way she had them, it would be tricky to get out of it without snapping one or two of them.
Joe tried to process what she was saying, but he had a hard time believing any of it. He tried to assess the situation again. He could try to sweep out her legs with his, but she’d probably just wind up pulling his arm back with her. He tried to use his other arm to leverage himself up, but that bent his arm even further. Joe had this woman by mass, but she had him pinned for the moment.
“Just let me up.” He said slowly, as if Audrey spoke an entirely different language.
