Shenanigans Who: Audrey When: Late night Day 11, after all the good little subjects have gone to bed (between 2 and 3 am.) Where: Throughout the mansion What: Audrey being terrible (I’m sorry) Super ultra trigger warning for racist text
The removal of their ExB privileges had been an unpleasant surprise that morning, though Audrey had been surprised at how quickly Felix had acted to get himself back in the game. She was eager to ‘earn it back’, as they had said, but hadn’t had anything super prepared. Most of her secret, ExB-gifted things had been left down in the batcave for safekeeping and as safeguard against any unscheduled room checks by housemates not in the know, and as such, certain tricks she’d been sitting on for a while waiting for the right opportunity were out of reach.
Still, she was nothing if not resourceful, and the new housemates had provided plenty of their own drama that could be exploited for her needs. So Audrey had bided her time during the day save one little errand she took care of in the craft room. She waited until everyone was sure to be fast asleep before creeping out of her room, dressed in dark clothing that could pass for sleepwear, or what someone might throw on to run downstairs for some water or a snack.
She started with the third floor, a handful of sharpies in the kangaroo pocket of her hoodie. Drawn on Ettie and Dylan’s doors with thick, black marker - nigger, the handwriting wide and blocky and as far away from her own natural handwriting as she could make it. For Marco - wetback. Across the entry to the theater and the game room, Whites Only. There was a certain thrill to the vandalism without the aid of the cameras to track housemate movement; Audrey had to use her observation and sneaking skills in a way she hadn’t in a while. She kept a sharp ear out for any movement, marked her chosen doors as quickly as she could, and moved on.
She skipped the second floor in favor of the first - she stopped in the kitchen, which would take her a second. Most of the refrigerators were also marked Whites Only, and she pulled one of the rubbish bins to sit against a wall, into which she threw a selection of dry goods and produce - without bothering to remove the garbage first - and marked the wall above it Colored Supplies. The temptation to mark the public bathroom on the ground floor was strong, but Audrey was hesitant to go too near Owen’s room. He seemed like a light sleeper. So she focused her efforts in the kitchen, marking the wall next to the entrance Whites Only: No Dogs, Negroes, or Mexicans before moving up to the second floor.
Two rooms were marked on the second floor, and Audrey didn’t know why Kai wasn’t in her room, but she was thankful for it, knowing the other woman typically tried to sleep with her door open. She marked Kai’s door with chink, because to be honest she wasn’t sure Justice could or would care about the difference between a Chinese and a Japanese woman. Abra’s door was marked sand nigger because again, Audrey was pretty sure a racist stuck in this house wouldn’t care to differentiate.
The remaining common areas - the gym on the second floor and the crafting room on the fourth where Audrey returned the Sharpies after carefully wiping any prints from them were marked with Whites Only, similar to the rest of the communal spaces. It had taken her less than an hour to hit all her targets, and she was calling it done for the night. If that wouldn’t cause a ruckus in the morning, she didn’t know what would.
