Yes, Ettie did, in fact, have "that guy's" phone. And she was, in fact, snooping.
She wasn't horrible, she knew snooping was wrong and that her parents would be probably be pretty disappointed with her, but the cute Christmas-themed wallpaper with two sweet looking guys taking whatever the two-person equivalent to a selfie was had opened a pandora's box of her worst urges. Urges she didn't even know she's really had.
She didn't know how many pictures she'd scrolled through already, but seemed to be in the middle of a chunk taken during the same holiday event as the wallpaper. It was clearly from the house, and she could pick out a few figures in some of the images that she recognized already. She squinted at one, trying to decide if she recognized one figure before realizing that there was something in the background that she didn't know, but had heard of.
"Look! The elevator door by the stairs they keep talking about!" She turned the phone towards Scotty to point it out, then realized that she hadn't actually responded to his own inquiries. "Oh...it's crazy, yeah, but if they woke up in town then other people might too. I hope nobody else is stuck like that, but it's good that we're looking, right? It's better to know."
