He rubs a hand over his face as Scott gets up and moves away with tears in his eyes. He wasn't going to give him excuses. He knows what Scott went through, knows what they all went through, but he also knows that for the plan to work this is how it has to be. Because otherwise it'll be worse for everyone all the way around.
So he lets him go. He doesn't argue. He falls silent and stares into the fire, exhaling and leaning back on the couch with a blank expression on his face.
