He knows it's a lot to take in, and he glances sideways at Scott at the shock in his voice, drawing in a breath and letting it out slowly. "In training. But apparently I have a pretty good knack for it."
"Would it have mattered?" It's an honest question, one he doesn't really know the answer to. His voice is quiet when he asks. "I still would have been gone." He doesn't flinch at the demands, at the question of if he cared. Of course he cared. It's exactly why he'd stayed gone. But there's no way to tell Scott that without telling him the entire truth behind is disappearance, and he's not about to do that.
