They'd stopped off on the way down twice, fist to collect Emma, who was apparently meeting Lucas at the ball, and then to drop Gavin into the creche, dressed in his monkey costume still from the halloween party he'd already been to. Alec had carried him down, since Ang was mostly worried about the glue not having set yet, and Gavin knocking her costume about, a thought which had left Emma snickering every time she looked at Ang.
"I think you should know," she said as they came into the ballroom, "that you two just, completely take the cake, never mind the biscuits, but dammit you both look fantastic!" This came from behind a layer of make up that included a beauty spot, and a powdered wig complete with ringlets, and a full crinoline style dress redolent of southern belles at the height of their fashion. Marie Antoinette was in the building.
