After a while, carefully cleaned and polished plates of different styles, shapes and colours were spread out to the stainless steel work bench. Emily began to make the plates one component at a time, with a most concentrated expression and nimble fingers. She painted sauces, sprinkled powders, built up delicious little statues until she had several small starter portions ready. Each of them was entirely different from the other, and all of them were beautiful in their own way.
"There," Emily breathed when she straightened up, and put down the final sauce bottle from her hand. "First set done. You're free to take them and photograph them how you see fit," she offered. "And after you're done, you can eat all of them if you like."
