"I'll be at your door around... nine thirty?" he suggested raising his eyebrows. "I'll bring beer," he promised. "Cause, you know, I can buy it on my own now."
He said it casually, but couldn't help but look at her for her reaction, and grin. He had had his 21st birthday a few weeks ago, but since he had been working hard and so many of his friends - including Emma - had been away on summer holidays, he hadn't thrown an official party yet. (Although, that had not stopped him from partying anyway, several times with just a couple of friends at a time, until none of them could remember what had happened.)
