Urquhart and Ruth; lobby, then Flamingo Lounge; Saturday evening
Urquhart had pondered this quite a lot, and then decided to do this by the book. Ruth, straddling the border line between 'totally focused expert' and 'potential Aspie' the way she did, probably had read some book on this in preparation, and might be reassured by elements she recognised.
So Urquhart arrived shortly before seven, wearing a civilised suit and tie instead of his more common leather jacket, and carrying a small, appropriate bouquet as a gift for Ruth.
If somebody he knew (like Sterrin, or Cambion) happened to see him, they would most likely poke fun at him, but it couldn't be helped. He didn't do this out of a strange vanity, or in a bout of wanting to be conventional, after all. This made sense.
Civilisation had rules so people didn't have to reinvent the wheel every time they wanted to get from A to B. This might be doubly helpful for somebody who found ancient pots much more easy to deal with than living people.
