Georgia, Monday.
They had found a good campsite the first night, to break them in gently, but tonight they were in a more isolated spot and Nia was speculating loudly about the possibility of bears.
Charlie was of the opinion that no self respecting bear would come any where near their campsite, not with the noise Nia was making, but ll the same was making sure they didn't get too far from the camper, just in case.
"Dinner," he said. "Shall I make that curry or are we really going to try and catch catfish?"
"Meow," Nia said.
"What - you doubt my catfish catching skills?" Deacon said with mock hurt as he got a fishing rod ready. There was a perfect river nearby for fishing and he was determined to give it a go at the very least. "I bet by the time you're done with the curry I'll have us a few fine catfish."
Charlie sensed a contest in the air. "All right," he said. "I'll make a curry and if you turn up with cat fish it can always go in the fridge for tomorrow."
"Fisheseses," Nia said, making a Gollum face. "I wan' help Daddy D catch fisheseses."
"I think that might be a bit too much of a handicap," Charlie suggested to Deacon.
"You can watch," Deacon told her. "But you gotta promise to be super quiet so you won't scare the fishes."
Nia nodded with big eyes and put her finger to her lips and went "Shhhhhh."
Charlie chuckled and went to make the curry anyway.
