Bea went into the interrogation room alone and started talking. She wanted to tell them the whole thing and just get it over with. No breaks, no water, just talk and get it done.
She told them about last night, about how she hadn't come home because Ray had suggested that he was going to teach her a lesson in manners, then she took off her sweater to show them her arms and part of her back, so they could see what his 'lessons' usually entailed, or at least part of it.
He'd told her that he scarred her to prove to her that she was ugly, that it was really better for both of them if she was because then he wouldn't want to do the things he did to her after he was done cutting her with his pocket knife and burning her with lit cigars. They'd gotten restraining orders on him at least 3 times over the years, but her mother always let him back in. Each time, he hurt them.
The men listened with blank, practiced cop faces and she told her story with an equally blank one. She gave her statement, and they took pictures of her arms and her back and then told her she could leave.
She walked out, the sweater draped over her arm, and she didn't bother to put it back on when she saw Eli.
