Bea considered that option too. It'd likely be less embarassing, but then, wouldn't he find out eventually? She was sure once she told the police everything they'd start questioning the security about if they knew anything about it, and then it would go on and on.
"Come in," she said with a shake of her head. It'd be nice to have someone his size to lean on, too.
When they walked inside, Eli was asked to wait while they showed Bea the body and indeed, it was her mother. It looked like she'd been beaten up pretty badly and she was told that the cause of death was a crack to the head when she fell from one of the blows. The police had pulled him over for swerving and seen her mother's body in the backseat of the car.
Bea felt like someone had gouged her insides out and was currently wrapping them around some barbed wire. The ache in her chest was neverending, but she was stunned that no matter how hard she tried to express how anguished this made her, her eyes remained dry.
She walked out, feeling like a zombie but asked to be taken to Eli first. She walked over to him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and lay her head against his chest without saying a word or even pausing to consider how it'd look.
