Brian, Kate, and NPC; Genentech Laboratories; Tuesday.

Kate walked into the lab with a new guy flanking her. He stuck close which annoyed her, but seemed eager to do the job.
She was glad she'd be handing him off to Dr. Banks when he got back from vacation. But for now, he needed to be trained.

"Mr. Johnson," she called, even as she warmed at the sight of Brian. "This is Mr. Lance. You'll be training him. He's going to be Dr. Banks' assistant."

"Ryan," the new guy replied and shook Brian's hand. He turned to watch Kate as she moved around, memorizing the things she picked up and where she placed them. Kate felt his gaze and looked up.

"Show him how to start the filing," she said to Brian, then sat down at her desk and faced away from both of them.
Ryan sighed a little then glanced back at Brian. "This must be a wonderful job."

	"It's a good one," Brian said after a second, watching him. "C'mon, I'll show you." He took the new guy to the filing cabinet and started demonstrating. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Ryan watched for a few moments, quickly learning Kate's set up.

"Is this your own personal filing system, Ms. Robinson?" he turned and asked Kate who looked up with an arched brow. "Ah, yes it is.

"It's brilliant. Alphabetically, numerically, and by color. Genius."

Kate blinked and glanced at Brian, then smiled just a little bit, just enough to be friendly. "Thank you."

	"No. You asked her if she wanted some. She just said yes. You can go back to filing. I can get her coffee. She usually doesn't have any until two." Which is why he hadn't asked her if she wanted some, he'd just been ready to go for it when she usually took it. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	She almost touched him because sometimes it struck her exactly how beautiful he was, but touching was for other places, or at least when they were alone. "Is that cup okay, Ms. Robinson?" Ryan looked between the two of them, but Kate didn't notice. It was part of the reason she didn't look up much at work. Sometimes she started looking at Brian and she just didn't stop.

She picked up the cup and took a sip of her coffee, then winced.

"Mr. Johnson? Can you go get me another cup of coffee please? Two sugars is too much with this danish you brought me, and I am hungry. One sugar, two creams?"

Kate hadn't noticed anything, still smiling just a bit to herself and thinking about later tonight. Should they work late or just go home?

She had things that she wanted to try with him. And maybe she'd even fix him some dinner... And let him serve it to her naked.

"I'm so sorry, Ms. Robinson," Ryan said and snapped her out of her internal musings. "I had no idea he was going to bring you a danish or I'd never have sweetened your tea so much."

"It's fine, Mr. Lance," she said and glanced back down.

Ryan watched the two of them closely for the rest of the day and Kate knew it, so she didn't go out of her way to look at Brian longingly anymore, even though it was hard.

When the end of the day came, she smiled at Ryan a little.

He moved to leave, but when he saw Kate wasn't up yet he hovered.

"That will be all, Mr. Lance," she said after a moment, feeling slightly annoyed. "We'll see you again tomorrow."

Ryan's lips thinned but he turned and walked out. When he was gone, Kate started to gather her files.

"Are you going back to the Manor, Mr. Johnson?"
