Nick set the desk down, carefully, then turned to look for the marks on the floor. "Ah," he said. "I see. Del, if I can get you on the truck, so you've got some leverage, I can swing the other end round."
He grinned at Isabella, and gave Daphne the eye again - Isabella was gorgeous but at 45 Nick had a fine appreciation for an older woman. "Scuse us ladies," he said, and began to move the desk away from the wall an inch at a time.
"Can I help?" Del asked and slid between the desk and the wall as soon as there was room and grunted as he lifted too. "Damn that's heavy," he said.
"That's quality for you," Nick said. "Okay - that should be enough. Now for a bit of elementary physics. You gonna be okay with this, kid?"
Del rolled his eyes and laid hold of the sack truck. "I know how one of these works," he claimed.
Nick snickered and got the sack truck under one end of the desk then went to the other. "You just lift then keep it still," he said, rolling his shoulders. "Oh three - one, two, three!"
Del grunted as he threw his weight against the handles of the sack truck, then Nick lifted and shuffled sideways swinging the huge desk in an arc.
"About there?" he asked when he got close to the right spot.
