Phone call to Lexi
Time surely wasn't slowing down, and with Spencer having made the arrangements and calls to his family, she needed to do her own. Picking up her phone she dialed her sister and waited out the rings.
Lexi picked up mid sentence. "got soccer practice in twenty minutes. Roxy, hey. What's up?"
Soccer practice... "I guess that's good timing. How lenient is the coach about time off for weddings?" Roxy asked her sister with a small chuckle.
Lexi had though plans were on for next summer an there wasn't a date yet. "You want me to ask for next year?"
Roxy shook her head, thinking this hadn't been the smartest plan of hers in a while. "No, this year. How's August 29th sound?"
"August? As in next month August, Rox?" Lexi asked winding her way through her kitchen to the calendar and looking at the dates. Three practices that week, a game on the Saturday in question, and two practices the next week. "Shoulda hired a planner or let somebody else take care of decisions..." Lexi started.
Roxy turned around from where she was standing and started pacing. "Yeah, you were right and I should've listened. Not arguing because I need you guys here." If she didn't have her sister, she didn't have anybody and that didn't sit well with her.
"So what's your plan then?" Lexi asked as she helped with socks and shin guards. "Travel arrangements made yet and we have to comply or not be there?"
She sounded like she wasn't interested and Roxy knew she'd been hurt when advice had been offered and shot down, but dammit this was not something Lexi could control and she wouldn't be in charge of anything more than her choice to be here or not. Roxy sighed. "It's up to you. If you want to be here, I'll pay for the arrangements you make and have a place for you to stay for the duration in the City. If you don't want to be here, I'll have to find somebody to stand up there with me."
Lexi smiled into the phone. She knew they'd talked about her being Roxy's matron of honor, but they hadn't decided anything for certain. "Can I come out early and help pick out a dress?"
Roxy laughed. "Let me see if you can stay at my old place and then we can talk about you coming up as early as you want to. Oh and Lex, it's going to be green. Not the 80's teal prom dress green and not jealousy green, but you'll just have to live with it."
From the other end of the line Roxy heard a shriek and a clatter, followed by a declaration of I call shotgun! and her sister laugh. "I think I can handle that, sis. Gotta get girls to practice, so I'll hear from you soon, right?"
Sounded like absolute chaos, and Roxy was entirely glad that wasn't her background noise. "Okay I'll find out and let you know."
