Monday evening, apt 12221 to apt 229, Thomas and Jazz
Thomas took his jacket off and hung it in its right place in the wardrobe. Then he made his way back to the lounge, loosened his tie and picked a bottle of sherry from his bar. He chose the right glass, wiped it quickly even though it did not really need any wiping, and poured himself a drink.
Then he sat down on the black leather couch and reached for the pockets by the arm rest to get the TV's remote control. The only one he found was the DVD player's. He sighed and leaned his head back. He had already forgotten. That bloody cunning little bitch still had them.
"Luke?" he called out, and just then the boy stepped out of his rooms dressed so that he was apparently going out.
"What?"
"Your new best friend still has the remote controls," Thomas said dryly.
"Uh. Yeah. Jazz," Lucas answered and fiddled with his mp3-player.
"Jazz," Thomas repeated slowly - he was not used to a name like that. "Since you're all buddies now, how about you go and get them back?"
"We're not... buddies like that. And I'm going out now. And all that is between you and her anyway." Lucas put the mp3's plugs into his ears and walked through the lounge.
"Put the TV on at least while you're - ohhhh nevermind then..." Thomas said but too late - the boy walked out. "Bollocks," he then muttered under his breath and took a big sip of the sherry. He was tired after a day at work, but he was tired of not having the remotes, and he was tired of this silly dance around with the bonita. He checked his watch - it wasn't too late yet to make a surprise visit.
He stood up, removed his tie but retrieved his jacket. In front of the mirror he checked his collars and left a couple of the shirts buttons open and smoothed his blond hair. After finding some snooping around and finding her apartment number Thomas grabbed his keys and a few moments later took a deep breath and knocked on the door 229.
