At least the dude wasn't mad at him for introducing a new inappropriate term to his kid. Ben was glad he hadn't chosen any of the other expletives he had stored in his really-not-appropriate-for-toddlers memory.
"Sorry, for..." Ben started as the little girl attempted to mimic him. He scratched behind his ear anxiously. "Didn't mean to have her...hear that."
Ben didn't hate children, not by a long shot. He just didn't know how to act around them. Pets didn't care, and you couldn't corrupt them the way you could with a human child. It was especially awkward if the parent was around. "I was just going to...load this in a machine." He thought for a moment, "Well, a few machines. Didn't mean to bother you guys."
