Monday Afternoon @ The Pool, Gilly & OTA Most of Gilly's classes required either a physical project or a term paper turned in in lieu of a final before graduation and a few of them she'd turned in well before their due dates. She'd already finished up her two college courses a few weeks ago and she'd taken her last high school final ever. Not only that but she'd been awarded as the valedictorian of her class having an overall perfect 4.0 gpa. Her speech was already written out neatly on some index cards. She was officially done as of the seventh, after commencement, at least until her summer courses started. She had promised J that she would go easy on summer courses so she'd only signed up for two.
She decided not to have some big graduation party, instead she was possibly going to schedule a trip for the end of July, after her lasses wrapped up. Right now though she had some free time. Matt had taken Max with him to the park so there was no nephew to play with and J was still at work. Gilly's schedule was pretty clear for the next week and frankly she was loathing it. She did realize that this was not normal but other things were on her mind. She was a legal adult, she was successfully graduating high school, she had over a year's worth of college credit's under her belt and an almost full ride at the school she'd picked, she'd won film awards - even if they were just from film festivals - and had a cult classic horror movie that went straight to DVD under her belt. She'd lived through a school shooting, had filmed a documentary in a foreign country, and had a good handful of friends and a sweet ass family. Her parents had missed it all. And what if she got to college and flailed about hopelessly instead of succeeded like everyone assumed she would?
With all of this and more on her mind, Gilly changed into a two piece bathing suit and tugged on some shorts, flip flops, sunglasses and grabbed her iPod, a towel and her keys before she headed to the pool. That's what a teen should do in the summer right, sit out by the pool and tan or something right? she set up on a lounger and listened to her iPod as she tried to relax. Within a half an hour she'd rolled onto her stomach and had her head resting sideways on her folded arms and had started falling asleep. She was exhausted.
