Sometimes Stone was convinced that he'd broken a mirror within the past seven years, or had walked under a dozen or two ladders. His luck was off and on pretty shitty. And though running into another tenant who was happily babbling about some new object of their affection wasn't something a normal person would consider a pain in the ass jab of bad luck, Stone wasn't really a 'normal' person by nearly anyone's standards.
He hadn't been looking where he was going or happened to scope out who was nearby on his way through the lobby. Mostly, he was thinking about the store that was connected to his on the other side, since the baseball field was to his building's left. The store was closing and the landlord was having trouble finding a tenant to replace them. Stone was thinking of buying the place so he could own the whole building and open up another store. The problem with this idea was that he wasn't sure, exactly, what he might want to open up in there. But he had a meeting in a little over the week with the landlord.
Anyway, he was lost in thought about this when he bumped lightly into Ricky's back, thankfully not enough that he wouldn't caused coffee spilling. It was enough, however, to have to caused Stone to mumble out a quick apology after stopping to make sure he hadn't caused the guy to drop anything. Damn his absentmindedness!
