"I - you don't have to..." Ben trailed off. The girl seemed pretty set on treating him to a hot chocolate and was gone to the counter before he could say anything else. He was only slightly embarrassed that a girl was the one treating him and not the other way around, but he convinced himself that outside his parents rule, the chivalry thing was a little bit more loose.
The girl made the appropriate smiles and comments to the cranky barista and managed to snag a hot chocolate and muffin to bring back. Ben was impressed.
"Thanks. A lot," he raised his cup to toast. "I'm Ben. I'm from New York, but I'm gonna be living on the first floor too, for at least a year. It's my cousin's place, but he's overseas now before he even got a chance to move in."
He looked at her face, trying hard not to be creepy about it. She was definitely pretty young. "Do you go to the college here?"
