Front Entrance, Afternoon, Amos and Emma
One of the perks of his new volunteer job was that he got to take long breaks in which to walk the dogs. With a trembling, tiny Chihuahua on his right and a long-eared, droopy-eyed Basset Hound on his left he set out from the shelter and decided to swing by the Manor.

Maybe he could give Emma a call and if she wanted to walk with him. It felt like forever since they'd had time to do anything together....

Or he could just almost walk into her as she arrived home after work.... which was of course a pleasant surprise for Emma, "Hey Amos, I didn't know you'd gotten dogs, but, I have to say, neither of them is quite you?"

She grinned at him, it had been a reasonable morning, she'd made a few small sales, finished her English, and had a look at the new paintings that had been hung this morning. "Are these the reason I've not seen much of you this semester?"

	"Emma..." he brightened measurably at the sight of her, he even momentarily forgot the dogs at his sides. "What? Oh, no, they're not mine. They're from the shelter, I'm volunteering there." "Amos, honestly, what are you not doing this semester? Between studying and working, and now volunteering it's no wonder I haven't seen you." Emma frowned slightly and then plunked herself down on one of the steps to say hello to the dogs properly. She let them sniff her hands before fussing them of course, she liked having all her fingers.

"I miss you. But how are things going otherwise?" She looked up, "Are the family OK? How's dorm life after being home for a break? Still great?"

	He sat down beside her, Nacho and Dave tangling around their feet. "I know I've been busy and haven't really be available..." he trailed off with a sigh, reaching up to ruffle the hair at the back of his neck. "Shouldn't you turn him in then? Surely if you do that they'll know you're not doing the same stuff?" Emma petted the chihuahua absently, "I mean you wouldn't be doing the same thing and then turning him in for it would you? Or do they not think sensibly about these things?"

She shook her head, "Then again is it worth the hassle and risk?" She looked round before continuing, "What are you going to do Amos? You can't continue to do nothing, that's not a choice, it's ostrich behaviour."

	"But Amos, if you don't turn him in, with your major, you'll wind up kicked out of college and that won't exactly stave off the trashcan stuff now will it?" Emma looked up a bit, puzzled, and catching the blush she started laughing. "I have two bedrooms Amos, what were you thinking! Alec would so never go for that, and you know it. But, the second bedroom? He might let that one go, I mean," she looked round and then leaned a little closer to speak more quietly, "he said after Christmas that he thought you were sensible. That's high praise from Alec."

She paused, nodding slowly, "Ang would probably agree, if we pitched the idea right, and you are sensible so don't deny it. You have a job, you're volunteering, you still have that 4.0 average right? What's not to like? And we have been dating for over a year. That has to count for something doesn't it?"

	He looked horrified. "No! No, I didn't mean it like that. I mean, even with two rooms...people talk. I couldn't do that to you." He started to reach out to touch her cheek, then stopped and settled for giving the ends of her hair a gentle tug. "Even if Mr. Reyes would let me. Which I know he won't. "But if you can't find anywhere else? At least let me try Amos? Rather than getting arrested and kicked out of school, let me try!" Emma could already imagine the discussion with Alec, but she figured if she got him and Ang together, and pitched it right for Ang, she might have a chance of wrangling it. Specially since Alec had those super psychic powers about what went on in her apartment.... Ang would understand though. Emma was sure of that.

"I could just feel them out about it over a dinner this week? See what they think about me taking on a room mate? Not mention any names?"

Amos studied her face hard for a moment while a curious something twisted around in his chest. He was pretty certain he'd never done anything to earn the right to have someone as awesome as her in his life.

This time he did touch her cheek, a quick, gentle brush with the backs of his knuckles. "Thank you, Emma, but, let me try before you put yourself through all that trouble first, okay? I promise, I'll keep you updated. First sign of trouble, you'll be the first to know."

"I'd better be," Emma caught his hand with one of hers, and pulled it back towards her, twining her fingers with his, "I don't want you getting into trouble because of anyone else's stupidity. You deserve better than that."

"Besides, I do have that whole spare room, and, sometimes it can be lonely living on my own. Not that I'd ever try and use that to convince Alec." She chuckled, "But Ang would understand. Even with Lily and Mr Cat, well, sometimes it's awfully quiet in my apartment."

"Well, you know you can always come and study here of an evening if you want to, or at the weekends? Well, apart from Saturday mornings when I'm at work, and Wednesday mornings too for the same reason." Emma smiled, "I might not have the political savvy you need, but I have food for the eating and a safe place to study that shouldn't get you arrested."

She shivered in her think jacket, the wind was picking up again, "I need to get in and get warm, don't forget, and you know that security will let you in, I'll just tell them to let you wait for me in the mocha if I'm not here huh?"

	He noticed her shivering and stood immediately, holding a hand to help her up. "With everything going on, it's a wonder I squeeze anything," he smiled gently. "But go on, go inside and warm up. Emma stood, and untangled Nacho's lead from her ankles. "Yep, Need to get warm, have lunch, feed my two lovelies, and then get on with another art project and my chores." EMma grinned, "They never do themselves those things, I've noticed... very lazy chores are."

She might also look at how best to rearrange the apartment to accommodate both of them, very very quietly of course, just in case. Straightening she leaned into Amos a little, wrapping her arms round his waist, "You need to put you first occasionally, and the things you need. It's not all about your roomie is it? Part of it is about you, and you need to make sure you are safe That your future is safe."

	He moved to hug her back, carefully, trying to keep the leashes from getting wrapped around her and rested his chin on top of her head for a quiet, restive moment. "I am tired." He said it quietly. 	"Go on then, finish walking the dogs, and I'll see you soon ok? Call me if you need to?" Emma held him a little closer, hugging hard for a few seconds, then pulled back and stepped away, "And Amos? Try and get some sleep?" She reached up and patted his face with one hand, then chuckled and hurried away up the steps and into the warmth of the Manor. (Reply to this) (Parent)
