The boy shrugged without saying anything more and turned to continue working again.
Emily sighed getting motherly urges to say 'where are your manners, young man, you're supposed to say thank you', but only bit her lip and rolled her eyes.
"Oh well, let's leave Lucas to his work," Emily said and wrapped her arm around Vincenzo's. As they walked to the living room, Emily quickly glanced back at Amarie to see if she stayed or went as well.
"I already got a phone call from the parents earlier today, kindly reminding me how I'm now 30 and how time is running by and how I should do this and that, and oh yes, happy birthday darling," she chuckled at Vincenzo's arm. "Did you get any of that trouble from your family?"
