He shuffled again, spread them all face-down on the table, and then picked out one card, which he turned right side up.
It showed eight goblets on a golden background, and a little square picture in the middle showing an old man holding an open book.
"The Eight of Cups, which is Saint John the Evangelist in this deck," Manny said. "Meaning an important letter or somebody's will, but also having to leave for a journey, the breaking-up of a relationship, or unrequited love. Cups are often about love or sex, anyway. Sorry about that."
