Jane picked up his plate and cutlery along with her own, and carried them over to the sink. "I don't suppose he'd like me just turning up and turning over your kitchen. I'll have to do that when you're home. Then again, that would be the best time to ask you what you have and what you don't I guess."
With a practised ease Jane had the plates in soak along with the pans so they could be washed up later, and the kettle on to boil. A real extravagance that had been, an electric kettle so she could make tea quickly. Sometimes her hob was a lot slower than she'd like. "Oh, do you want coffee? It won't take a moment if you're ok with instant?"
