Memphis had figured the creature would do one of two things. Go off and lick it's wounds or come back with a vengeance. While it made up it's mind, he turned and attempted to help Jane further with the picking up of her things.
He turned, looking over his shoulder, to see the thing pounce. Within moments he was hissing as it bit his shoulder and clawed in an attempt to stay on Memphis's back. He reached behind him with his left hand and grabbed the thing by the back of the neck. It hissed and snarled, curling lips back over sharp and pointed teeth. Memphis stared at it intently. It snapped at him and he tightened his grip.
"Leave her alone!" He growled through his own barred teeth before flinging it across the room again. Hopefully this time, whatever it was would listen and leave Jane alone.
