Erik emptied every ounce of energy and strength he had into her through their hands and stopped the porters long enough to bend and press his lips to her forhead.
"I love you," he whispered, words he didn't say often enough and that if she made it through this she would likely grow sick of hearing soon. "Come back to me."
And then he was forced to let her go and watch them wheel her away and Erik followed as far as they allowed. He stood for a moment, staring at the door they'd gone through then let a nurse lead him to the waiting area.
He'd made a deal once - to save the woman he loved. He wondered if he had anything left to bargin with.
