Lara's apt; Saturday night; Lara and Stone
Lara and Stone had been in Lara's bedroom for a while when they heard Mark come home. That was a total letdown, since Lara had thought he'd be out all night. But nope, he was in, and from the sounds of it, he was camped out on the couch in the living room watching Battlestar Galactica.
So Lara and Stone had to be quieter. Or at least turn on some music and be a little quieter.
"I feel like I'm back in college," Lara mused as she walked back to the bed after picking out a CD. She almost tripped over her jeans, which had been tossed onto the floor, but she quickly regained her balance with a dignified clearing of her throat. Then she continued walking. "After Mark moves out, no more roommates."
Stone let out a groan, but at least Mark wasn't out there watching Star Wars. Then again, Stone would've been able to tune that out easily. But naked Lara was pretty much drowning out everything else except background music. "What are some of the things they say in that show a lot? We can just blend into the soundtrack if we started shouting them," He smirked as he leaned up on his elbows to watch her. He jumped a little, like he was actually going to be able to hop up and stop her from falling when she tripped but leaned back down when she saved herself. "Good idea," He nodded. He was going to add that he thought Poe wanted to move out, but the idea not only freaked him out but was hardly foreplay fodder. Anyway.
Lara grinned, putting on an overly passionate voice as she reached the bed. "Oh my God...er, Gods. So say we all, Captain...Hawthorne." Yeah, she couldn't come up with anything more clever. So, to make up for it, she climbed on top of Stone.
Stone laughed, a lot. He sat up, though, when Lara climbed on top of him so he could kiss her, a couple of times. His hands went right back to work on her hips now that she wasn't walking around the room and all. Soon enough the proper macking turned into a jaw and neck attack instead.
Lara grinned and moved one of her arms around his neck as he started kissing her. She tilted her head to the side and used her other arm to run her hand over his stomach. She got kind of squirmy and then had to laugh a bit to herself before continuing her Battlestar dirty talk. "Oh yeah, baby...you're giving me multiple DRADIS contacts..."
Stone couldn't help but laugh against the part of Lara's neck that he was currently kissing because of that. "If only we had a fatsuit for one of us to walk around in," He smirked and went back to work along her hips and her neck and jaw.
"I don't -" pause for gaspy noise "- know," Lara continued. She moved her hand across his stomach and then pinched at his side. "You do have the pudge going on...that's a...a, um..." Something. She stopped trying to think about it and just shifted around in Stone's lap instead.
Stone laughed but kept on double attacking because that choppy sentence was amusing. "I'm not that fat, thanks," He said between a few kisses before he moved to kiss her properly, shifting his weight around a little as well in response to her own shifting.
"I know, I know," Lara said, getting some of her sense back after Stone kissed her. She smiled and kissed him a few more times before deciding to retaliate by pushing him down on the bed and starting in on a kiss trail down his neck.
Stone wasn't going to argue with a retaliation. He grinned and let out a little sigh before reaching up to move his hand into her hair even though she was only still kissing around his neck area. He shifted under her and kept his other hand at work along her hip and side.
Soon enough, Lara started steadily moving downward. She was always amazed (and a little impressed, if she did say so herself) at her ability to make him shut up just by some kissing or touching. Since it was going to be a few moments before her trail reached his stomach, she dragged her hands down there instead and made some scrapey patterns in various places.
Stone's brain start got cloudy and he'd already started shifting a little as kept on kissing down his chest. And hey, he wasn't totally silent. There were telltale signs and default noises. He was thinking about the kissing reaching his stomach so he wasn't expecting the scrape. It totally through him off. It even caused a sharp inhale vaguely on the gaspy side and a good amount of squirming as he tangled his fingers further in her hair. And then he let out a sigh, which happened to include a quiet, dopey sounding, "I love you..." with it.
At first Lara smiled, but then after placing one more kiss, she realized that this wasn't dreamworld. There weren't any 143s in real life. So then she could do nothing but freeze, blinking at the patch of skin on his chest just inches from her face. She couldn't force her brain into giving her any other sort of reaction.
It took Stone way longer to realize both that a) yeah he just said that and b) it wasn't dream town. Oh, and then c) Lara wasn't moving. His eyes blinked open, brain still cloudy and he stared at the ceiling. Lara couldn't see it but his eyes had widened a lot. He lifted his head a little after a few moments to look down at her, trying to figure out what to say now that he'd let that slip out.
Lara still didn't know what to do, and Stone's lack of reaction on his end was not helping one little bit. It was worrying, actually. Lara swallowed and looked to the left and right without moving her head. Did he really mean that or was it a dream-induced accident? She was leaning toward accident since he had yet to say anything.
Stone cleared his throat because it felt fuzzy. Surely her frozen reaction was a bad sign and Stone needed to explain it away as quickly as possible before she freaked out too much more. Not that he didn't care about Lara, and y'know, really....no, really...enjoy these moments and y'know just hanging out with her too, but he hadn't exactly meant to say he loved her and since they didn't really speak about their relationship and, oh yeah, technically Stone was married to Lis...Why was he thinking about this. "Sorry," He murmured quickly. "Brain cloud..." Or something. He pulled his hand out of his hair to lean up just a little on his elbows so he could get a better look at her. Crap. It was kind of a shame that this had gone over better when Lara had been the first one to say it...y'know, in dreamland.
Lara nodded, almost imperceptibly, and turned her head up. She looked at him for moment before saying, "Yeah. Yeah, no," she straightened up some more and lifted her hand off his stomach to push her hair behind her ear. "It, uh, gets a little confusing sometimes...for me, too." She realized she might have looked a little disappointed -- which was completely ridiculous, by the way -- so she forced a furrow in her brow.
Stone frowned a little when it seemed like she was disappointed but then her brow wrinkled and he closed his mouth since he'd opened it to speak and apologize. He just nodded as he watched her, unsure if this was one of those times when they were being all miscommunication happy because he was an idiot or if this was one of those 'we don't talk about this' moments in regards to their 'relationship'. They really needed to draw up lines and rules or something because treading on lines drawn in the dirt made them all blurry and Stone was still somewhat cloudy brained. "Yeah..." he might've seemed a little disappointed too but he just re-situated himself on his elbows and tried to make his face look a little more impassive and sheepish as he nodded.
Lara looked down and let out a short, nervous laugh as she forced more hair behind her ear. "Our lives...they're pretty weird," she commented before venturing another look up at him.
Stone kind of felt bad for ruining the moment. He also really wanted to kiss her at the moment, except she was halfway down his torso and looking all nervous. "Yeah," he nodded again and pushed up on his elbows a little more so he could sit up enough to shift them around so he could go back to kissing her. "Sorry," He apologized again after a couple of quick kisses so he could attempt to either pretend that whole thing didn't happen or just y'know test the waters or something.
After moving around a bit, Lara kissed him back. She nodded again at his apology and forced a small smile. "S'okay," she assured. "An understandable mistake." She looked at him with slightly arched eyebrows, waiting for to see if he'd confirm or deny that.
Stone maybe hesitated, not even a whole second before he nodded. "My brain kinda...goes numb," He nodded. "With the stomach stuff," He clarified even though he didn't have to but he was all nervous now. He was just going to shut up now and nod.
That wasn't helpful. Lara was going to take that as a confirmation. "...yeah," she said with a slow nod. She breathed out and looked down at Stone's right shoulder.
Stone frowned a little. Uncool. He leaned forward and kissed her shoulder and then settled for wrapping his arms around her and leaning back to lay back down. There was some rolling too, to get them on their sides. "Sorry for ruining the mood," He apologized for that next. "I was looking forward to hearing more Battlestar Galactica dirty talk too." When in doubt, insert joke.
Lara waited until they were on their sides before she moved her arms all the way around Stone. She leaned her head below his chin, against his chest and closed her eyes. She was suddenly feeling very tired, but she smiled a little bit, genuine this time, at his comment. "Guess you screwed that up."
Stone let out an exaggerated sigh. "Yeah, I'm a screw-up though so it's not too surprising I guess," He shrugged and used on leg to tug the covers free so he could reach down and pull them up before Lara got too cold. He decided to chance it and turn his head down to kiss the top of hers hers as he settled back down with her. "Y'know, I don't mean that I..." He frowned, no that wasn't how he wanted to say that. "I mean, I like you. A lot." He stammered a little and rolled his eyes as he cleared his throat. "It just kinda came out. I'm sorry if I freaked you out."
"It's okay," Lara said again, frowning slightly since Stone couldn't see her. "You didn't freak me out. It just, y'know, caught me off guard." Real life definitely wasn't dream town, that was for sure. Which, yeah, was kind of sad. They were all happy in the dreams, after all.
They were happy in real life too. Sometimes. And it wasn't all good stuff in the dream town either, so. Either way. "Okay," Stone decided maybe he should leave it at that instead of trying to explain anymore so he didn't make this any worse than it already may have been.
Lara was quiet after that and just held onto Stone, dragging her fingers up and down a small patch in the middle of his back. She didn't want to be awkward, but she also didn't want to go right back to fooling around at the moment. She was okay with just lying down, even though it led to too much thinking.
Stone decided to stay silent too since obviously speaking was not his friend tonight and he'd made things awkward enough, he didn't want to make anything worse. Staying silent did mean over thinking, but Stone wasn't really that against just laying there quietly, which may or may not lead to thinking about what he'd said and whether or not he meant it on some level or not.
Lara had wondered that too, but she dismissed the thought right away because it was stupid. Of course he didn't. He was Stone and she was Lara. He just got confused and said the wrong thing and now they were all embarrassed. She did wonder why she felt disappointed instead of relieved when he said it had been an accident, but that was a road she wasn't particularly keen to go down. So she focused on the song playing in an attempt to distract herself and moved her arm a little farther around Stone's back.
Yeah, but Stone was thinking about it instead of focusing on the song. He shifted a little to move his arm further around her and stared over at her wall since he was facing that way. He tried to think of reasons why he shouldn't mean it but all he came up with was the fact that they were both emotional head cases and it just meant complicating things. But saying he didn't mean it kind of made him feel guilty, like he was saying he didn't really care about her after like over a year or something. And since that wasn't true, he was now confused. He was also absently sliding his fingers through her hair at the moment too.
A minute or so passed and Lara realized she was still dwelling on all of this. Their relationship was so confusing. Sometimes (a lot of the time, actually), she wished he wasn't fake-real married to Lis. If he wasn't then maybe he and Lara could have actually progressed more easily to something more substantial or definable or something. Or maybe things would have turned out the same way, with their non-communication and general weirdness. They were Stone and Lara, after all. They'd had a messed up relationship right from the beginning, so there was probably no hope for them ever being any kind of normal in this universe.
Their relationship was messed up because of outside factors that internally screwed them both up. But come on! Their relationship wasn't that bad. They had fun. They had active libidos that weren't tired of each other. They miscommunicated. They fought. They made up. How was that not normal - aside from the fact that y'know they did everything on a pretty grand scale? Stone needed to stop thinking before he said something else stupid. "Does it bother you?" Too late, he'd spotted his ring and had started speaking. "The whole thing with me and Lis and the Vegas stuff?"
Lara arched her eyebrows and wondered if Stone had someone gained Gilly-like semi-mind reading abilities. "...no?" she said after a moment. "I mean, it would if you guys were actually, like, together, but you're not. I'm not, like, jealous or anything." Okay, so yeah, she had been jealous of the fact that Lis-and-Stone were closer than Lis-and-Lara or Stone-and-Lara, but things seemed to have been shifting in Lara's favor lately, so that didn't really bother her anymore.
Stone's forehead furrowed up a little as she answered. He'd been pretty sure she'd been jealous when they'd gone dress shopping for that wedding. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Oh the puns, would they ever stop? He didn't really think he got along better with Lis than Lara did. He was pretty sure, for example, that Lara and Lis had more inside jokes together than he did with either of them. So...yeah. "Okay," He answered because he didn't know if he wanted to go any farther than that.
Yeah, she'd been jealous because it'd been like she wasn't even there, with Stone doing the goofy ogling and Lis doing the goofy showing off. She'd felt left out. But, anyway, ever since they went to the wedding and Stone told her that he did actually enjoy her company, Lara had been feeling much better about everything to do with their relationship.
She stayed quiet for a little bit after he replied, but then she had to speak up. "...what made you ask that?"
Stone lifted the hand of the arm that was under her even though she wasn't facing the right way. "I was looking at my ring," He answered with a shrug. "Was just curious." He added afterward to finish explaining before he put his hand down and used is thumb to turn the ring on his finger a little.
Lara nodded in response, not sure if she was expecting some kind of revelatory answer to that or something. Probably not. "I'm kinda tired," she said after another little round of quiet.
Stone nodded. "Yeah," Thinking so seriously was tiring. "Me too," He decided even though he felt kind of restless now instead of tired.
"That's convenient." Lara moved a little closer to Stone and put one of her legs between his. She felt a little bad for no longer being in the mood, but then again he probably wasn't either.
Stone was rarely ever not in the mood but that was besides the point. He smiled, just a little, at the way she moved closer to tangle their legs together. The stuff that spilled over between their actual lives and the dreamland usually made him smile, the good stuff. He shifted to tangle their legs further and then lifted the covers and tucked it around them further even though he wasn't particularly cold. He kissed the top of her head again too.
Lara smiled a bit herself after he kissed her head. It wasn't very late, but after the combo of the emotionally exhausting past few minutes and the warmness that was Stone, Lara was pretty sure it wouldn't be long before she fell asleep.
"F'you want," she said in a tired voice after a few minutes, "y'can, y'know, go hang out w'Mark if you're still 'wake..."
Stone shook his head, smiling a little more at her sleepy tone. "Nah," He wrapped his arm around her a little more and settled his head a little more on the pillow. "M'Comfy," and he was too so it wasn't a lie, sweet.
Lara grinned sleepily at his response. "...okaaaaaay," she said, dragging the word out for at least a couple of seconds. "F'you say so." She moved a little closer and started taking slower, almost-asleep breaths.
"I say so," Stone assured her before he started moving his hand through her hair again, just slower now that her breathing was slowing down as well. His own breathing started to slow down as well and he tried not to move too much so he wouldn't startle her out of her falling-alseep-ness.
It wasn't too much longer before Lara was down for the count, conveniently leaving Stone alone with his weirdo thoughts. Lara just slept in comfortable-land.
It took Stone a lot longer to fall asleep but eventually it happened and cut off his weirdo thoughts, thankfully and left him in what was bound to be a restless sleep.
