Emily, still oblivious of having caught anyone's or anything's attention, leaned back as she saved the document. She decided to polish the column later, but most of the work was now done and she knew she was probably going to send it in time, as usual, to the editor of the Gourmet by Tuesday.
She picked up her cappuccino and as she was about to sip it, she grimaced as she realized it had gone cold a long time ago. Emily decided to get back home to Wayne, her new cat, and so she closed the laptop and picked up her plates and cups as she stood up. She left them by the counter for joy - the other customers ogled her because they were obviously used to leaving them to the tables, but the chef was always ready to help the staff in these small ways.
"Thanks, Joy. See you," she said as she headed out through the ballroom door for a change.
