[Alterna] Follethorne apt; Sunday; Alterna-Lara and Stone
When Lara came home and hit the mailroom, she was a little confused to find a flat media envelope in there, addressed to 'Lara and Stone Follethorne.' That part wasn't so confusing when you added in the factor that the return address on said envelope was from J Madsen's apartment, but add in the fact that J had been dead for over a week, and it was all a bit odd. Lara stared at the envelope for a good couple of minutes, wondering just why the hell J would have sent them something when she only lived some floors above them. The package was post-dated to like the day before J died. What the fuck kind of coincidence was that? You mail a mysterious package and then the next day you get shot down in a convenience store?
Frowning, Lara shoved the rest of the mail down into her messenger bag. She was going to tear open the envelope right away; she couldn't wait until she went upstairs to do it. After a bit of struggling due to both the packaging and her nervous fingers, Lara got the thing open. She reached inside and pulled out a DVD case.
It was a thin black hard shell case with a clear plastic slip to slide in the case cover. This case cover, as opposed to the other DVDs J had sent out before she inconveniently died, was customized for the Follethornes and contained a huge collage of pictures of them shrunk down to a small 100 x 200 pixel size and covering the front and back of the case. All of the miniature photos were tinted into a varying color of green or blue and then in the middle of the front side of the case was a three by three inch re-sized version of J's first picture of Lara and Stone - up on stage at Norben's Ballroom.
Lara blinked at it and flipped it over and then opened it up. Yep, it contained a DVD. The day before she died, J had mailed her and Stone a DVD. Lara didn't think she had mentioned anything about it. She would have remembered if J had, right? This was like something out of a movie. Lara considered calling Stone up to tell him about it, but she decided that she'd check the DVD out for herself first. This was a J-related thing, and as such, Lara could be prone to certain emotions. She'd done enough crying all over Stone for the past few days. No need for him to see any more.
She headed for the elevators and went up to the fourth floor, still studying the DVD and its case. When she finally got to the apartment, she ditched her bag next to the living room couch and stuck the DVD in the machine. She grabbed the remote, turned on the TV, and sat down.
The DVD was crazy. Not, like, the video from The Ring or anything, but crazy in the sense of being completely unexpected. It was a slideshow of stuff with J and Lara and Stone and Lis and other people they knew and hung out with. Most of the pictures were obviously taken by J, and others were taken by the non-photographers on their less-fancy cameras. Stuff that they had e-mailed each other after nights of hanging out drunk or going to shows or both and things like that.
The whole thing would have been massively cheesy and laughable under normal circumstances. Lara probably would have called J up and teased her about being too much under pregnancy-induced hormonal control. But J was dead, so Lara couldn't call her up, and that was why under real circumstances, the DVD was incredibly depressing. Two whole pictures had gone by (one of them being a camera phone picture from the night J and Stone met Lis) before Lara's vision got a little blurry because she had started tearing up.
By the time it was all over and the screen was black, Lara was crying just about as hard as she had after J's funeral. This wasn't very good grieving progress probably, but Lara couldn't help it. Everything was hitting her again and she was regretting all the things they hadn't all done while J was still alive. So much of the year had been focused on her and Stone's personal dramas that didn't get as much J-time as they should have. And now J was gone and Cotton was all alone and J's baby was never going to meet her mother. So yeah, Lara was crying a lot. And holding onto a throw pillow in her lap. And wishing she had more than just the crumpled up tissue in her pocket.
Stone was late getting home, mostly because he'd gotten stuck interviewing a bunch of people to fill a recent suddenly vacant spot. Sadly, it was not Henry who'd left, but Alyssa, who was moving across the country with her boyfriend or something or other. Stone didn't know, he just knew he'd suddenly with one day notice had lost one of his best employees. He'd spent most of today interviewing, then had stopped to get a mixture of food for dinner from the Indian place and fro Agrarian before heading home. He stopped to check the mail but it looked like Lara already got it, so he went up to the apartment and let himself in.
"Hey, I've got food." He said as he put the bags down on the table to put his jacket away. "Sorry for the lateness," He said as he grabbed the bags and headed for the dining/living room. "I had a lot of interviews to-," Stone had just set the bags down on the table when he realized, now that the noise level was down, that Lara was crying. He untangled his hands from the bag and walked quickly around the couch to sit down next to her. "Hey, hey...what's wrong?" He asked, first putting a hand on her back and then instead just picking her up to put her sideways across his lap. "What's wrong? Did something happen?" Or was this J related? "Are you all right?" Obviously not.
As soon as Lara had realized that the door was opening that that Stone was talking, she scrambled with what little tissue she had left and blew her nose. She considered making a beeline for the bathroom, but that would have been too obvious, so instead she was left to sniffle and wipe off her eyes as much as she could before she would attempt to turn around. Stone must have heard her sniffling though, because suddenly he was there on the couch and concerned and pulling her into his lap.
She wiped at her eyes some more, and didn't really know what to say. She settled on, "I'm okay," since there was nothing really wrong per se, beside the general wrongness that was J's untimely demise.
Stone started rocking with Lara a little. Sniffling meant there was crying. Therefore, Stone was acting like himself and going into super hyper-worrying mode. He moved his hand through her hair and along her back. "How long have you been home?" He asked as he lifted his other hand to put it on the side of her face. He slid his thumb along her cheek and leaned forward to kiss her forehead.
Lara didn't want Stone to go into super hyper-worrying mode. That always sucked. Well, it was nice that he was worrying and cared and stuff, but it sucked that he had to feel down. "A while," Lara shrugged. She wasn't exactly sure. The DVD had seemed pretty long, though. She sniffled again and lifted her eyes from Stone's shoulder to look at his face. "J sent us a DVD. Before. It came in the mail today."
Stone frowned. How long was 'a while'? He kissed her forehead against and leaned back to look at her. His eyebrows shot up when she spoke. He was quiet for a minute since he didn't know what to say to that. He opened his mouth to speak but then closed it again and took a breath. "...Oh," He tried not to frown. He leaned forward and kissed her shoulder. "...Was the DVD at least good?" He wasn't sure what he should be asking or saying.
"It was depressing," Lara replied with a slight frown. She sniffled again and used what was left of her tissue to wipe at her nose. "It was a slideshow. I didn't know she had made it." She leaned over and picked up the DVD case from the coffee table. She handed it to Stone and crumpled up the tissue in her other hand. "Weird, huh?"
Stone nodded. Of course it was depressing. That made sense. He took his hand off of her face to take the DVD case. He frowned a little as he looked it over and looked at all the colored little pictures and stuff. He agreed on the cheese factor. In fact half a smirk took up the right side of his mouth because he was thinking about that. He nodded. "...Yeah, weird. And cheesy." he added.
"And therefore depressing in a situation like this," Lara nodded. She leaned to the side to rest the side of her head against Stone's shoulder. "I guess we were supposed to watch it together, but I didn't know what it was. Sorry." She wasn't that sorry, though. She would have spent the whole time trying not to cry if she had watched it with Stone, and that would have been exhausting.
Stone shook his head. "No, its okay." He said as he put the DVD case down on the cushion next to him, out of the way. He leaned his head against hers and rocked a little more. "I'll watch it later." He said. He didn't want to cry anymore and he wasn't even sure he wanted to put himself through it yet either.
Lara nodded and gave Stone a kiss on the side of his neck. "J...must have been having some crazy hormonal moment when she made that. There were so many pictures. Some I've never even seen before."
Stone smiled a tiny bit at the kiss and nodded in agreement as Lara spoke. "Yeah she must have." He agreed and then arched his eyebrows. "What were they of? The one's you've never seen?"
Lara took a small breath in hopes it would keep her from crying just thinking and talking about this stuff. "Some of them she must have taken like, when she got up to go somewhere and we didn't know she was still watching us and stuff." Those were actually the kinds of pictures Lara liked the most, since they were all natural but still not creepy like paparazzi pictures. "Like from the Nassau trip, when I was on your shoulders the water and had fallen down? And then Lis pushed you over into that wave to get me back? Yeah, there's a picture of that." Lara sighed and closed her eyes. "J always got good shots of you flailing."
Stone snickered a little but was smiling sadly. He nodded. Yeah he remembered that. And he agreed that she got good pictures of him flailing. "I flail a lot." he smirked. He let out a little sigh. "She did get pretty good shots when no one knew she was taking them." He added as he rocked a little more with her. "The photo album she gave us after we got back from the never-ending honeymoon was full of 'em," Not that Lara didn't know that.
"Yeah." That photo album was the best of their wedding gifts, hands down. Lara was quiet for a little bit as she rocked a little bit with Stone, thinking. "It's pretty unfair that we got to spend all this time with her and get thoughtful gifts from her and all that stuff and River won't ever really know what that's like." Way to bring the room back down, Lara!
Stone nodded as he moved his hand along Lara's back and stared blankly towards the coffee table. "Yeah..." He nodded again. He'd been trying not to think about that fact. It completely wasn't fair, and Stone wasn't one to think things about parents that were actually good parents but he was fairly confident that J would've been a good mom. But now she was dead and he wasn't completely convinced that she hadn't felt any of it if she was alive long enough for them to save River, he didn't want to say that out loud though, because it was depressing, extremely.
Lara didn't know how J couldn't have felt any of it, but then again she wasn't an expert on those sorts of things. And she wished it was something she never had to think about, especially in reference to her best friend, but that was the way things turned out. And it sucked. Lara turned her face into Stone's shoulder some more and let out a kind of shaky, staving-off-a-cry breath.
Stone frowned. His nose may have gone a little burny possibly. He tightened his arms around Lara and turned his head to kiss her forehead. "You can cry if you want to," He told her after that shaky breath. "Or need to." He added. He kinda wanted to get a little emotional the more he thought about it. This really sucked and they couldn't just go to an island to forget about it since J being dead since J was important, whereas Gibson had not been.
Lara nodded against his shoulder. After a moment, she added, "I know," just so he didn't think she was holding back the crying for his sake. She wondered when this was going to get better, but then she felt bad about that. Things getting better would mean they were used to the fact that J was dead, and that wasn't good at all. Well, maybe it was good, but it wasn't something that seemed like it should be good.
It was good in the sense of getting on with life and all, but it sucked in the whole J being dead part. Stone nodded. "Okay," He said. He swayed a little more with her and wondered what to do next. "Are you hungry?" He thought it was a stupid question but whatever. "Also, I love you." It was necessary to say this as often as possible, in Stone's opinion.
Lara waited a few moments before she answered. She was really glad she had Stone around, to help her out with all this emotional shit. She moved her hand to the other side of his neck and lifted her head to kiss the crook of it before she sat up all the way. She gave him a kiss and then pulled back with a highly-dignified sniffle. "Yeah, I'm hungry." She wasn't all that hungry, but she'd eat and she didn't want Stone to feel like he couldn't help.
Stone pressed his lips together as Lara sat up and trained his eyes on her face. He returned her kissed and leaned forward to rest his forehead against hers. He bumped his nose lightly against hers. "Okay." he said. "I brought stuff from the Indian place and some dip and stuff from Agrarian." He wasn't feeling all that hungry right now either. "Or we can skip the food for now and hop in the shower," He suggested, lifting his head to kiss the tip of her nose. "Or take a nap...something else if you want to?"
"Shower first sounds good." Lara smiled a little bit at the nose kiss and reached down to hold onto Stone's hand. "Then food, then sleep," she said with two nods. "Thanks for picking something up." Because she definitely wasn't in the mood for making anything. She gave Stone a kiss and then moved off his lap to stand up, still holding onto his hand.
Stone nodded. "Okay." He agreed as he stood up too since she was still holding his hand. He lifted her hand up and kissed the back of her knuckles. "And you're welcome." He shrugged. It was probably a good thing that Lara had found the DVD or she might've made something before he got home, not that it mattered that much really.
Lara glanced down at the DVD case on the couch briefly before tugging Stone's hand and leading him to the bathroom. A shower was an excellent idea, as it would help her clean up her cry-face. Once they reached the bathroom, Lara let go of Stone's hand and walked over to turn on the shower.
"How did the job interviews go?" she asked over her shoulder.
Stone followed Lara through the apartment and to the bathroom. He started tugging his shirt off over his head as she turned on the shower. He shrugged. "They were mostly crap." He answered. "Couple good ones I guess. Mostly dumb teenagers" He scrunched up his face. "I have two more tomorrow before I have to pick someone."
"Hopefully those'll be better than just 'good I guess,'" Lara nodded. She turned around and unbuttoned her jeans. "But anyone's gotta be better than Henry." But they'd have to be really, really good to pick up his slack. She pulled her jeans off and tossed them through the door to the bedroom.
Stone grimaced and nodded. "True, but I'd rather not have to scold a teenager that's only a step about Henry because that's too close to another Henry and my temper has a short fuse, so...guess I have to actually choose wisely." He smirked and shook his head as he undid the button and zipper on his pants after kicking his shoes off with his toes.
"What you need to do is fire Henry." Especially after he acted like a complete tool at J's fucking funeral. "Start over fresh." Lara finished undressing and tossed those clothes into the bedroom as well. Then she turned to open up the shower curtain a little bit and feel the temperature of the water. Not quite warm enough yet, but getting there.
Stone grimaced. "I don't think I have the mental capacity to deal with more interviews, plus auditions right now," What with the whole Dead J factor, the motherless River factor, the Lara crying at random factor, et cetera. "It's easier just to deal with him and kick his ass." Then to go through the added stress when there was a lot of stressful stuff already going on. "Maybe after everything calms down," Ha, like that would happen given their track record. He pulled off the rest of his clothes and stepped up behind Lara as she tested the water so he could wrap his arms around her and go for a neck attack.
"If you say so..." Lara leaned back and closed her eyes when Stone held onto her. Things really did need to calm down. The year had been way too intense so far, so they deserved a break. Which they were hopefully going to get, because really, what could top J dying for the stress and the crazy and the horribly depressing? After about a minute, Lara straightened up and tested the water again. It was good, she moved out of Stone's arms and pulled him over by his hand as she got in the shower.
"I say so," He agreed between kisses. "For now." He added. Yep, until it calmed down. It would calm down right? It really needed to calm down. Stone's head might explode soon if it didn't, calm down. He stood up straighter after Lara tested the water and stepped away and then followed her into the shower, which was plenty hot in Stone's opinion.
It was a good amount of hot in Lara's opinion, too. She let go of his hand once he was in, and then turned around to face the water. She wiped her face off, which felt a lot better once there were no more dried tears on it. She turned back around again and gave Stone a wet hug around his middle. She rested her head against his chest and let out a sigh.
Stone just waited while Lara washed her face off. He wrapped his arms around her after she hugged him and kissed the top of her head. He swayed a little where they were standing. "I guess we've more than used up our vacation time over the past year to suggest one," He commented as he leaned his head down against hers. He wasn't really serious since too much was going on to up and leave now and what not but he couldn't think of something else to change the subject to.
"Yeah," Lara nodded, swaying along with him. They'd taken more vacation time in the past year than Lara had probably taken in her whole total, up to that point. She wasn't sure on that, but it felt like that, especially after the honeymoon. Plus being around people they liked was good. They were gone for a while earlier in the year, and look what happened. They missed valuable J time before they completely ran out of it. "It's probably not very healthy to keep going away when things get annoying, anyway." But even so, it wasn't like that was going to keep Lara from suggesting it in the future.
"Yeahhhh, I know..." Stone let out a sigh. And hey, J had joined them in Nassau during that last vacation. But yeah, they'd definitely missed out on a lot of valuable friend time with the vacationing. Plus that would kind of be like leaving Lis hanging since she probably couldn't take anymore time off and what not and yeah that whole running away thing, not so good. He swayed a little more with Lara and kissed the top of her head again. "How was your day before you got the mail?"
Lara shrugged and tightened her arms around Stone. "Pretty blah. Nothing really happened." Which was fine by Lara, since she was still feeling pretty down. Even worse now that the DVD had arrived. "I wonder if she sent one to Lis, too." She must have. With a different DVD case, of course.
Stone hadn't even thought about the fact that J probably sent other DVDs. He frowned. It sucked that something Lara and Stone would've laughed at and teased J for was now super depressing sentimental. And who else would've gotten one? He nodded. "We should call her and see later on," He suggested as he held onto her a little tighter. "...Do you think she sent any to her family?"
Lara nodded. Yeah, that was probably going to be a fun conversation. 'Did you get J's slideshow from beyond the grave?' 'Yup.' 'Did it depress the shit out of you?' 'Yup.' Lara frowned a little bit at the wall when Stone asked about J's family. "Probably," she replied after a minute. The Madsens were in really rough shape. The DVD probably wouldn't help. "But a different one, maybe."
Stone frowned and nodded. He should change the subject, he knew he should. "When do you think they'll let her out of the hospital?" He was thinking it and he hadn't meant to ask it out loud but it sort of just came out. They'd stayed away so far from the hospital so they didn't intrude, and as much as Stone was all for no procreating for him and Lara, he did kind of want to see River in something that wasn't a picture taken from outside the nursery of her inside an NICU incubator and what not.
"I don't know," Lara said with a little shrug. "She's supposed to be there for a while, I think." Way, way too long. But at least she was alive, and that was the important part. Lara leaned her head back to look up at Stone. They probably should start actually showering, instead of just standing under the water.
There was nothing wrong with just standing in the water. He nodded to her comment and looked down when she moved back and looked up at him. He arched his eyebrows in lieu of asking 'what?' or if there was something on his face. After a moment he leaned over and kissed her, because...well c'mon they were naked in the shower. Kissing was completely necessary.
Lara was about to shrug in response when Stone leaned down to kiss her, so she did that instead. It was much nicer than a shrug. She lowered her arms to hold onto his hands and gave him a little smile. She sighed, too.
Stone laced his fingers in with hers when she took his hands and gave that little sigh. He kissed her forehead and squeezed her hands. "I guess we should actually get clean." He said after another few moments. Might as well, right?
"Probably," Lara nodded. She held their arms out at their sides, and then dropped them down again. "Before the water goes cold, I guess." That always took a long, time time, though.
"Yeah. Can't have that," He agreed with a nod. Actually showering it was, with a little extra fun mixed in because with all the crap going down they needed fun times, right? Once they were done and the water was off, they dried off and headed for the bedroom to change. "Today felt like it was longer than it should've been." Or maybe he was alone in that thought. The more he thought about the DVD the more he wanted to watch it. Maybe he'd wait until Lara was asleep to do so. Nah that would wake her. He'd wait until she left for work and then watch it maybe.
"Yeah," Lara agreed. She had been spending the past week or so pretty much wanting to lay in bed with Stone and go to sleep, so yeah, every day made it feel like it took forever to get to that point. She walked over to one of Stone's drawers and pulled out a t-shirt that she could wear to bed. Why use pajamas when you could just wear your husband's ginormous shirts? She pulled it on and then walked over to sit on the edge of the bed.
If only Stone could be comfy clothes-stealing lucky. Alas, he settled on digging out a pair of pajama pants to tug on. He roughed his hand through his hair and went over to his side of the bed to climb in under the covers, sitting up and leaning over to kiss Lara's shoulder before he laid back on the bed. He'd mostly forgotten about the food so it could be put away or eaten later really, unless Lara was hungry. Maybe she was hungry. "Nap or food?" He asked just in case.
There was no question. "Nap," she said, and then turned around so she could move down to the pillows and get under the covers. She put her arms around Stone and closed her eyes. Hopefully she'd fall asleep soon. That would be nice.
"Okay," Stone nodded. He moved an arm under her and then bent it under the pillows and then wrapped his other arm around her to pull her closer. He gave her a small smile and kissed her forehead. He didn't think he'd get much sleep during this nap now that he was going to be thinking about that DVD and other depressing things.
Lara took a deep breath after the forehead kiss and tried to clear her mind of any DVD-related thoughts. It proved to be pretty impossible. But she was so exhausted and Stone was so warmlike that it didn't take her that long to fall asleep. That was what usually happened.
Stone fell asleep eventually, but was it was long after Lara had already fallen asleep. He'd watched her for awhile but had tried not to move so that he didn't wake her up since she slept so lightly and all. But he did fall asleep, and thankfully he didn't have any dreams, or if he did he wouldn't remember what they were when he woke up. It was just blackness, kinda calm, not the kind where it feels like you're falling before you jolt awake on your bed. Just darkness.
At one point Lara turned over to face the wall, but she was still pretty solidly asleep. Eventually she started having some pretty uncool, but kind of cool dreams, where she and Stone and Lis and J were all hanging out on some beach somewhere. It was kind of like the Caribbean trip, but with Lis around instead of Henry. That would have been a much better trip. For sure. Anyway, the dreams were nice while she was in them and still asleep, but if she woke up and managed to remember them, she would end up being depressed that she wasn't still asleep.
Stone woke up eventually, to looking at the back of Lara's head. He frowned a little and wondered what she was dreaming about. He waited a long while before he used the arm around her to pull her back closer to himself, trying not to make her stir too much. He also stretched out his legs. It was possible he'd woken her up but he was hoping that wasn't the case.
It wasn't. Lara shifted around a little after Stone put his arm around her and made some sleepy, indecipherable sound. It might have been a word, but if it was, it wasn't anything you could find in a dictionary. She moved herself downward a bit so she was more under the covers, but aside from that, she was still firmly in dreamland.
Good. At least one of them was still in dreamland. Stone grinned at the word-sound Lara let out. He scooted closer and then grabbed the covers to tug them tighter around Lara since she scooted down. He stayed quiet though in an attempt to keep the sleepy half of them asleep. Except now his mind was wandering and that wasn't good since he was more or less alone with the thoughts.
Lara's islandy dream took a bad turn about then. J was gone and in the dream Lara wasn't really thinking about her. She and Stone and Lis were on the beach and waves came in and Lis got caught in the undertow. While she was struggling to get out of the water, Lara and Stone were too busy to help her because they were busy rolling around on the beach together, having kissy times. Another version of Lara was watching all of this happen and she wasn't helping either - just watching and freaking out about it. The real Lara pushed Stone's arm away and turned over in her sleep, a frown on her face.
Stone frowned when his arm was pushed away. He was going to ask what was wrong but then Lara turned over and instead his waited and arched his eyebrows. He frowned further when he saw the frown on Lara's face. Was she having a nightmare? Should he wake her up? He should wake her up. He should definitely wake her up because nightmares were horrible. He reached out and put his hand on her shoulder. "Lara," He said her name in a normal talking volume level tone. "Hey, Lara..." He shook her shoulder a little bit.
Lis got pulled out of the water, and that was when observational-Lara realized that J had gone missing. But of course she was missing; she was dead. And now Lis was dead too, and the other Lara on the beach didn't really seem to care all that much. It was all very distressing. Lara didn't want to look away from it all no matter how much Stone was trying to get her attention, but then her eyes opened and it took her a few seconds to realize she was in bed, in the dark, in the apartment.
She took a couple of quick breaths and blinked at Stone as the relief set in that Lis wasn't actually dying or drowning or anything. "What's the matter?" she asked, trying to be more alert than she currently felt.
Stone frowned and shook Lara a little harder when she didn't wake up right away. He called her name a couple of times too. He was relized when she finally did wake up but not extremely because she was asking him what was the matter when clearly she'd been having a nightmare of some kind. "You were all frowny...and rolling over," And moving his arms off of her. "Are you all right?"
"Oh." Lara went all frowny once again and rolled onto her back. She put her hand on her forehead and turned her head a little to look at Stone. "I'm okay. Just...had a bad dream." She took a deep breath and laid her head back again so she could look up at the ceiling. "I'm sorry if I woke you up."
Stone shook his head. He frowned as he watched her and wondered if she was going to push his hand away if he put his arm back around her. "I was already awake." He told her as he scooted closer so he could kiss the side of her shoulder. He moved his hand down her arm to slip his hand into hers and lace their fingers together. "Do you want me to ask you about it or do you want me to just keep quiet?"
Lara looked back over at Stone when he held onto her hand. She was glad she hadn't woken him, even though it sucked that he was lying around, still awake. She gave his hand a squeeze and turned back onto her side. "You don't have to keep quiet," she shook her head, furrowing her brow. "It was just a bad dream. Lis was...drowning, and we were there, but we didn't really care. Or, like, notice."
Stone tried not to look as worried as he was as Lara turned and all. At least she squeezed his hand back and didn't push it away or anything. He watched her as she spoke and then frowned some more. He lifted her hand to kiss the back of and then leaned forward to kiss her forehead. "You know we would notice something like that," He said even though he knew she would know. He lifted his head to glance at the clock and then set it back down. "But either way it's still early. We can call Lis if you want and check on her?" Maybe she wasn't literally drowning but dreams are figurative and all, right?
She knew that they would notice. Or at least she hoped they would. Sometimes it felt like the two of them had their heads stuck so far up each other's asses that it was hard to tell. Lara looked past his shoulder into nothing as she thought about that, but then brought her eyes back to him when he suggested they call Lis.
"Yeah. Okay," she nodded, and after a moment pushed herself by her elbow to sit up.
Stone nodded. "Okay," He said as he watched her lean up. He let go of her hand, reluctantly really, and then rolled onto his back and his other side so he could lean over and grab his phone from the nightstand. When he rolled back over he held the phone up. "Do you want to call her or do you want me to?" he asked.
"You call her," Lara decided as she laid back down again. If Lis got a DVD, then she'd want to talk about it. Lara prefered to put that off for the moment, so Stone could talk to her first. She turned toward him and wrapped one arm around his and moving her other down to hold his hand once again.
Stone nodded. "Okay," He used the hand of the arm that Lara wasn't wrapped all around to go through the phone book and dial Lis' number. He laced his fingers in with Lara's when she put her hand in his again and gave her hand a little squeeze. He leaned over and kissed her forehead too while the phone was ringing.
Lara smiled a little bit at the forehead kiss and closed her eyes as she squeezed his hand back.
The phone rang for a while before Lis picked up. "Hey," she said, a little quieter than she normally would have. "Which Follethorne do I have the pleasure of speaking with?" Oh yeah, and she sounded like she had been crying, too.
"Hey," Stone replied. "It's Stone," He answered even though just from the 'hey' she would know. He cleared his throat. "We figured we'd call and see how you were," He said. "And from your tone, I'm assuming you got a DVD too, huh?" Stone frowned.
Lara opened her eyes and looked up at Stone with a frown. On the other end of the line, Lis sniffled. "Yeah...I just watched it a little bit ago. I was...going to call you guys to see if you got one too."
Stone frowned and squeezed Lara's hand a little tighter. This kind of sucked, like a lot. "Yeah. We did," He nodded absently as he answered. "So, hey," He looked at Lara as he spoke and then hit the speaker phone button after pulling the phone away from his ear so Lara could hear and all. "Why don't we have a crazy...sleep over thing," Like after the mugging, only traumatizing for a different reason. "We can get drunk and pass the hell out and all that?" He posed the question to both of them.
Lara didn't know if that was so healthy, but she didn't really care. She nodded at Stone just as Lis answered right away, "I'll be right there." And she hung up. That was fast.
Stone shrugged and nodded a little as he shut the phone and reached over to put it on the night stand. He leaned over and kissed Lara. "Sorry if you didn't want company...I just figured..." He shrugged. She had a bad dream about Lis, so seeing Lis would help, yeah?
Lara returned his kiss and shook her head. "No, it's okay. S'long as it's okay if I fall asleep again soon." And if Lis was coming over, she supposed the two of them should probably get out of bed. That part sucked.
Stone nodded. "Course it is," He agreed. He kissed her one more time before he moved to sit up, since they'd have to answer the door and all when Lis arrived. He lifted Lara's hand up once he was sitting up and kissed the back of it.
