Another summer coming to an end, and me without a dedicated plan for my next batch of classes. Do you think the administration would object to me making students join me in watching and tagging the various avian creatures on the mountain?

eleventh flap~

[info]midnightdreary
Due to the fireworks subverting my attempts at starting my class off on the right tone, I feel I must apologize to my students for the way things have been. Our bird-watching and identifying attempts have been woefully stalled, except the two birds I suspect are my brothers and as such I've had to rethink my lesson plan for the remainder of the session. Were I the type to drink, this situation would have me indulging.

A student pointed me in the direction of a Native American-based horoscope. I find my sign incredibly fitting. In fact, I might have been a bit confused had I not been born under the Raven sign.

I have something serious I need to discuss with all of you. I came to an agreement with Marilyn and I didn't want to say anything until we got the results. I'm helping her have a child. It's complicated and it's simple, but it's my decision. I just ask that all of you support me in it even you fucking angel ass-kissers. You have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them.

Mind if I crash at your place tonight? I know it's last minute.

For those students who took the first session of my Intro to Ornithology class, you can rest easy knowing I'll be spending my weekend grading your final assignments. I should have your official grades for you by mid-next week. If anyone is interested in partaking in the session that starts July 16th please let me know.

A little birdy pointed out this article, and I found it amusing.

Having one of the best vacations ever. Currently in Santa Fe, because I overheard a woman talking about a "magical staircase" so of course I had to check it out for myself. As it turns out, a long time ago a chapel was made, but while it's a two story chapel, there's no staircase. The nuns occupying the chapel prayed for nine days straight, and on the ninth day a scraggly stranger comes to them, tells them he can build them staircase, but that he needs total privacy. So they leave him be, and three months later the staircase was made. The only tools he used were primitive tools, including a square, a saw, warm water, and non-native wood. The staircase had no metal nails, and no apparent central support. Later on wooden pegs were added, and the outer railing was fastened to an adjacent pillar.

The staircase itself is a thing of beauty, something I wish that I had made, but they're saying it was made by St. Joseph.

Tomorrow after my evaluation, I'm getting the fuck out of here for a little while. I've got some money saved, so I'll use that on the off chance that I wish to stay at a motel, or something.

I am so angry, so disgusted by people at the moment. I want to tell them off, but to do so would make me psychotic or some shit. So I'm leaving for somewhere, no idea where, but maybe to a place where I won't have someone wanting to perform a mental evaluation on me, because I breathed the wrong way.

[Filtered to Marilyn]

Leaving for a while, watch after James for me, okay?

To anyone who has managed to arm themselves, or who have a tried and true technique for keeping themselves safe -- the following areas have proven to be safe and show signs of having working electricity:

The Wellness Center
The School Library
KaPOW Comic Book Shop

If you see someone struggling or in need of help it would be within your best interests to assist where you can, and if worse comes to worse alert someone in a position of authority.

...also, as a warning, do be careful if you see anything flying around. The creatures in the darkness have not shown this ability, and as such there is no reason to attack or shoot them. Thank you.

Soldiers, get your M40's, your semi-automatics, and your frags and let's party like it's 1999.

Or 2012. Which it kind of already is. We just couldn't help but get ourselves a head start, apparently.

Kill count: 37. Anybody feel like losing? Try to keep up, children. ♥

eighth flap~

[info]midnightdreary
For those who expressed interest in the Introduction to Ornithology class I'm offering this summer, I've gone ahead and ordered the required book for the class -- Watching Birds: An Introduction to Ornithology by Roger F. Pasquier. The class itself will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10 - 11:30am.

Otherwise, some of you may have heard about a chapter of the Animal Rights club becoming available on campus. If anyone has an interest in joining the club please do let me know, as I'll be acting as the faculty advisor.

It seems I've got quite the full summer ahead of me.

Plans for summer? Also known as my least favourite time of year. There's so little to do. I mean, I know there's summer classes, but it's still awfully dull compared to the 'proper' semesters.

As mentioned to one of you earlier, I'm thinking of finding a roommate for next year. How should I do that? Do you know of anyone looking who you'd recommend as a human being? It's just dreadfully lonely living by myself when I know Byron and Kaden are just having so much fun together, knocking up poor stray birds.

[CAMILLA.]

If anyone is interested in taking an Intro to Ornithology course I'll be offering one for each session of Summer courses. The class will be mostly outside observations and teach how to identify different species and their migratory patterns.

In other news, I feel stifled. Perhaps I need a new hobby.

Tested a barrel earlier this week - apologies to anyone who was nearby. They're expectedly loud. Weather permitting, we should be able to launch five next Sunday. We're still two short on launching, if any student is interested. If you are, please visit me during my office hours. I'll be there as late as eight to help students prepare for finals. Maybe we'll do something like this next year. Or even the end of summer semester.

Also due to the complexity and time consumption of the subject, I will not be teaching anything higher than the Basics of Engineering (EGR 101) this summer. Classes listed in the Summer 2012 Course Catalog.

This is fucking bullshit. It's not enough I have to live with I don't know the fucking goddess of love and beauty who makes blowing her nose fucking sexy but now I have to be tits over tail for A GUY WHO STUDIES BIRDS.

This is ridiculous. I either need to get really drunk or sequester myself until this Aphrodite love magic wears off. Cause that's what it is. Love magic. And not eyes that I can see the ocean in.

HE LIKES BIRDS. And he has a dick. Presumably. TWO POINTS NOT IN HIS FAVOR.

[Public]

Beau, I swear to Jesus and Shiva and Allah and whoever the fuck else chooses not to show up at this school and might be getting some godly work done, if you forget to switch your curling iron off ONE MORE TIME I am setting your bed on fire.

The only thing that's keeping me from teaching my roommate a lesson now is that lovely wonderful fuck i can't do this hike I went on earlier. Great birdwatching out here. Who knew? I think THIS IS PATHETIC AND DESPERATE HAL YOU ARE PATHETIC AND DESPERATE I've got a new hobby. Thanks, Prof. Archer.

I feel rather awkward. First the singing and now I seem to have developed an odd... fixation. Nothing a nice, long walk can't cure, I'm certain.

How curious... I seem to find myself thinking of someone who I've seen around, and while I'm not certain why it is she's in my thoughts I feel it best to find her and perhaps even confront this issue. It must be mating season somewhere...

my abuela's best friend died today and what does my papa tell me? he starts talking about the time her husband borrowed a silver set from us and didn't give it back. nevermind they divorced years ago and he was a something i am too much of a lady to type.

we knew her. she brought us food, she watched my brother and me when we were little. how can my papa care more about silver?

i'm sad. and all this singing is making me sadder. ay, i'm not drunk enough for this.

[pretend this is in spanish] they have two families. all of them. all of the rest of them. and my one little family keeps shrinking.

Quite nice out still. It's strange when the days become longer, don't you think? I lose track of time. Anyway, if you've got Saturdays or Sundays to yourself, you ought to head out to the Black Forest for a nice hike. The faunae may not want you there, but the florae do put on a show.

Odd thing, though. I took a few students who were in need of extra credit with me and, when I tried to lecture on a certain strand of Lupinus, I burst into "Stormy Weather". Which, in turn, caused several birds to land on my shoulders and play with my hair.

The magical princess jokes might have been funny if my students hadn't sounded horrendous belting out "Someday my Prince will Come", "Part of your World" and "I've Been Dreaming of a True Love's Kiss".

Honestly, is no one at all curious as to why these things keep happening? Putting our reincarnation aside, what in any god's name would cause a campus of adults to sing so many Disney songs?
