A question for all of you participating in the "holiday" called Valentines Day--
While I am not bitter that I am single (I have seen what being in a relationship does to individuals and I do not envy any of you in the slightest) I did wonder what it was about Valentine's Day that causes you to partake in it. If you really do care for the person, would you not tell them on any random day and not let commercialism and hype influence you to do so? Does the actual date February 14th make it more special? Say you were to buy flowers for your love on the 13th or the 15th-- does it make the gesture less important?
And for you single people: Were you any more or less single on those same days? Out of the three hundred and sixty five days you may spend without a mate, why does this one matter so much more?
I'm not trying to be pretentious or anything, I'm seriously wondering and would like to hear other peoples views/opinions.
