I know I am only furthering my debt, but Florence was definitely worth it. Besides, I'm already fucked drowning anyhow. No harm in a summer working in a traditional sculpting studio. I have now come back rejuvenated, excited and full of ideas.
However, the vital information I wish to share with everyone (or, perhaps more so, art majors) is that I was able to fully discuss the probability of a summer abroad program with the studio head. So, in the event Montenegro would also okay it, who all would be interested? It won't be for another year, if that, but I'd still like to get a good idea of what the numbers might look like.
And for those interested.
video feed:[The camera flickers on to show his studio: the extra room he was paying extra for to ensure that he always had proper space to indulge in his art. Walls are covered in both finished and half-done paintings, sheets are draped over sculptures and easels alike, but - perhaps most notably - is the large marble sculpture in the center of the room. A clear, though obvious interpretative, image of Xochiquetzal: a blatant Hellenistic approach hardened by sudden, rigid lines to better portray the goddess' original image.
Coming around from behind the camera, Noe appears looking bright-eyed, excited and completely covered in dust.]
We'll call this a bit of showing off with equal parts incentive - a combined attempt to lure prospective students into the Fall semester's sculpture class whilst also displaying my most recent project.
[He looks down at his hands - which are just white with the excess of chipped away marble - and his brows make a sharp arch upwards.]
Mis manos nunca han sido tan secas. They actually ache.
[A laugh. A brief shuffle and outward moving flick of the hand.]
But that is of no matter!
[Noe takes a moment to look at his work, arms crossed and body tilting back, before he then looks back to the camera and grins. It's clear that he isn't looking to address the masses any longer, his face has taken on a warm and comfortable characteristic that someone might only reserve for close friends or loved ones. The following Spanish spoken, as well, is delivered with an over-exaggerated "Spaniard lisp".]
¿Qué opinas, Javi? ¿Abuela gustará?
