Why is it, when a guy decides to flirt with a girl in a bookstore, he feels the need to make stupid comments like they're 'too hot to be wasting their time with books'? Silly question, I know. I should just take the compliment as it's meant and be happy some random man finds me attractive, but lines like that make me feel a little insulted, like there's something wrong with me liking to read.
He redeemed himself, slightly, by recognizing the book I was flipping through and quoting it, but he chose the most well-known quote so it wasn't as effective as he assumed it would be. In case anyone was wondering, the quote was -- "Perhaps we all give the best of our hearts uncritically -- to those who hardly think about us in return."
It's a good quote, very meaningful and truthful, but not my favourite from the book. That would be -- “Love is a trick played on us by the forces of evolution. Pleasure is the bait laid down by the same. There is only power. Power is of the individual mind but the mind's power is not enough. Power of the body decides everything in the end and only might is right."
...and now that I've blathered on about my white girl problems, people should come by Camelot Pub. I'm a waitress there, and I'd love to meet more people. I promise excellent service, and good food too.
