Mother's day was another holiday that Elizabeth didn't really care for. Her own mother had been a neglectful woman, and had abandoned her at the age of five. Every Mother's Day after that Elizabeth had held out hope that her mother would get better, and come back for her. This stopped when she was eighteen. Now every Mothers Day, Elizabeth did a search for the woman. Perhaps one day she could contact her. But that day would never come, because her mother had died four years ago.
Mother's Day was a bitter ironic reminder of the woman that had given birth to Elizabeth, and left her.
To make matters more bittersweet there were flowers growing around Elizabeth. Violets from the looks of it.
To all of you mothers out there, happy mother's day.
